Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The valley-like area lasts a few hours of trekking, even with sliding.
“Miss-di-d-you-con-si-der-how-lo-ng-thi-s’ll-ta-ke?”


Amber turns to leave before stopping.
“Ah, almost forgot. If you see my sister Amethyst, don’t annoy her in front of other people. You might find yourself fairly embarrassed.”

 

"No." Katie says near-silently.


"Why's that?" Vexa asks, puzzled.

 

“I-know-a-rou-te-you-can-re-st-on-bu-t-it-s-out-of-the-way-a-bi-t.”


“She’s the best seamstress I know, but if she decides that humiliating you is to her benefit, she’ll turn your clothes into unravelled piles of thread in the blink of an eye.”

 

"I'm not tired, I just don't want to get caught by these...things." Katie says nervously.


Vexa nods.

"I'll keep that in mind." Vexa says.

 

“On-ly-red-aura-is-hos-tile. Blue-and-green-are-sa-fe.”


Amber walks out into the sun, gets lit on fire as she takes her charm off, then sinks back into the ground.

 

Katie gets up from her immobile position, before making a run for it.


Vexa watches with slight confusion, before organizing the boxes she was given and trying not to cry.

 

"Not if I got to the human village. The shapeshifters don't mind though."

 

"Here, Buddy."
I call, showing him my palm.

 

Rema turns away to scan her shelves.
"I don't suppose you'd show me who your partner is. You mentioned a wedding... can't help but to be curious now." Linda asks, staying a bit above your shoulder.

He keeps on running towards the boundaries of the park, the other dogs keeping pace.

Blue auras pop up behind her as she runs, a path splitting into two ahead.
"Go-up."

 

Katie pushes herself to run faster, further, following the directions she's told as she tries not to look at the auras around her.

 

One slight issue; the path branches down and to either left or right.

 

"Which way?" Katie asks hastily.

 

"Can't hurt, can it. Though I don't think she's very fond of ghosts."

 

I grin anyways, laying back in the bench.

 

“Up! I-sa-id-up!”

“Any idea how old Buddy is?”

“She can see spirits?”
“Most kitsune can.” Rema adds.
“You fell in love with a kitsune... and you’re sure it’s not a love spell?”

 

“No idea.”
I shrug.

 

Katie forms a large pool of water below her, before using an ice spike to rocket herself upward.

 

"I-uh.. well... I'm not sure. But now I'm starting to doubt it."

 

“Perhaps have Rema check?”
“I ran out of frostleaf stems a while ago, I can’t check for traces of spells right now.”

The pool causes Katie’s surroundings to erupt in a purple aura, the floor revealing itself to be a sputtering creature who winds up throwing Katie off balance as it quickly gets up trying to breathe.

“You can assign him an age. Well, Stella can. Or, you know, you can just sort of wait until he keels over or something I guess.”

 

Katie tries to keep herself from crying out again, trying to find her balance and where down and up are.
