Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I will watch over you, if only to make up for the time I wasn't there for you." Linda says.
"Danger can lurk just about everywhere."

The humans seem to have two retrievers, one pitch black and one seemingly albino. Serra's dog is presumably the sheltie.
Buddy seems to be attempting to steal a frisbee from Soul and Lune, Felsus sitting down off to the side and watching the show.

"I know you probably won't do this, but there is one errand that you might be able to cover for me. In the library, there's a box with one of Sapphire's puppets that resembles an edge beast. Her will stated that should she vanish, bring the puppet to the matching edge beast before it begins looking for her."

 

I check if there's room on the bench.

 

"I could try to do that." Katie says, nodding.

 

There isn’t on the bench they’re sitting on, but there’s an empty bench facing them.

“...You sure? I mean, I’d owe you for it, but it’s not as easy as leaving a package on someone’s doorstep.”

 

Katie nods again.

"For Sapphire." Katie says, positive.

 

Rineth lets out a quiet sigh before nodding.
“I appreciate it, and I’m sure she does too. You won’t miss the box once you go in the library, and I’ll see if I can find any extra means of protection for you before I get operated on again.”

 

Katie smiles.

"I'll try my best!" Katie says happily, once embarrassed mood turning to confident.

 

"I know, mom. I know."
He smiles.

 

I head over to that bench and take a seat.

 

Rineth heads off back into the hall and into a side room, leaving Katie to her own devices.

“You sit in the dark or talk with Stella?” Serra asks, looking into your left eye.

“You can’t really run from her now, either.” Rema chuckles.
“I won’t get in your way.” Linda says, sounding slightly offended.

 

Katie heads to the library, leaving a trail of ice in her wake as she skates along.

 

Once she arrives, she sees the box with a note standing on the lid.
“Delivery to: Void Edge, 15 minute walk from furthest charted path.
Recipient: Edge Beast 113 ‘Echo’
Due by: No set date
Package details: Must be opened for recipient by courier to minimize risk of rampage. Care must be taken to preserve content integrity. Archiving this package runs a nearly certain risk of inducing a palace-bound rampage consisting of EB 113 as well as EBs 114, 127, and 89.”

The box itself is pretty plain and little more than treated wood with minimal carvings.

 

Katie tries to pick up the box to feel its weight.

 

"I've only talked with Stella once, when I was getting upgraded."

 

"Why's that?"

 

“I can pass through walls. And, you know, fly.”

“Figured. Never had anyone actually sit in the dark."

It's only about a pound, but it feels fairly sturdily made.

 

“Huh. Interesting.”

 

"But.. I couldn't see you till now. Will now be any different?"

 

Katie carries the box out of the library, looking for Rineth.

 

“Not unless you make your way to the spectral plane, but I promise I’ll be there.”

A guard stands with two necklaces in each hand.
“Rineth said to bring these to you.”
