The standalone game that Hypixel has been working on for years (EDIT) IS A GODDAMN MINECRAFT CLONE, EXCEPT THIS LOOKS EVOLVED AND SO COOL!

I think it's complitely diferrent from all minecraft-hypixel stuff. After all, it doesn't seem to be in minecraft and "nothing is shared between the two."
I'm not intrested. Remember Zentrella? The rip-off? Me neither.

Not a very original concept but eh, they still seem to have put quite the effort into it.

To be releasing a Minecraft homage in the same year as Minecraft are coming out with their own RPG doesn't sound like a great idea but we'll see.

 

yea but atleast there will be some stuff to subdue my boredom for a few months

 

of-fucking-course its just a Minecraft clone...
BUT

Looks like random gen terrain is much better made (unless its just made for the trailer)
A lot more cool monster type mobs like orges, giant bugs, yeti's, and other stuff (honestly, they could be put in a Minecraft mod)
Player models with expressions, hair, and custom clothing (if theres an afro hairdo i'll be happy)
Quests, I think... (Wynncraft is the god of MCMMORPGS and not even Mojang's own game will change that)
CODING, MOVIE MAKING, AND YOUTUBE VIDEOS (BITCH LASAGA)

game looks alright, I just hope that the community doesn't become as toxic as hypixel's (but seeing as the game is made by hypixel themselves and are promoting on they're forums I fear for the worst)

Here is my thing:
This is just Minecraft but with Hypixel's artstyle and Portal Knight's combat... however, modding-wise it looks even better than Minecraft, which is an absolute plus to me
Doesn't change the fact however that it is indeed just a Portal Knights and Minecraft mix
But yeah, if the modding part succeeds, I may pick it, but it looks pretty weak rn

Minecraft is a sandbox game, with the singleplayer mode being focused on mining and crafting (hence the name), building and surviving. It does not contain any quests, and the game's style is neither medieval or modern, as it both has simple villages and ancient strongholds as daylight sensors and a complex wiring/logic system. The mobs are simple, often consisting of just a couble cubes, with simple animations and predictable AI. It has two bosses, both optional, neither are locking a large part of the game. Nearly all blocks can be mined and moved around, and all have simple shapes with little detail and no slopes, allowing for the players themselves to add that. Terrain generation is mostly flat, with quite low mountains and very small hills. Most biomes have a real-life equivalent.

Hytale is an adventure game that's procedurally generated, so any buildings players make (if they can build at all) probably won't stay. The singleplayer (if it has one) is focused on adventuring and exploring, and experiencing a tale (hence the name). It contains quests, and the game's style is mythical and medieval. The mobs are complex, often consisting of cubes, beams, flat textures and often sloped, with relatively complex animations and currently unknown AI. It probably has many bosses, some might be required, some might be optional - this much is not known yet. Most blocks probably can't be mined or moved around, and some blocks' models are quite complicated, like leaves or roofs. Terrain generation is very mountainous, and though most biomes have a real-life equivalent, it's likely the devs will add more biomes later. After all, the game is not finished yet.

Can we all just stop using 'X is a Minecraft clone' as some kind of argument to critisize something? Not every game that has cubes is a Minecraft clone. It's as if when one person has an idea, he has a patent on it, and nobody else can ever make something that even vaguely looks like what the 'patent holder' made.

 

I do see what you mean from the latter half of the trailer, but overall it does look interesting and more polished than Minecraft. Though I don't want to say that it's just a clone or something since the Red-Eyed Knight made it clear how it isn't. Personally I wouldn't play it either, but I think it's a little bit a stretch to say that it's hideous. I'd reserve that word for games like Hatred or Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 or Daikatana.

 

Five bucks says it dies just like Warlords did

 

You have to remember that the game has a large team of devs and is being funded by Riot games - if the LoL developers think it has potential, it's likely to get somewhere. They've built their own engine from scratch, which is going to give them much more possibilities than that of minecraft. Even with mods, you can never change minecraft's core engine. The graphics look sweet imo, but it's hard to judge the gameplay currently. I feel like the creative and moddable areas may attract some people, but minecraft will always remain as an easy, flexible platform (unless forge never makes it past 1.12 :/). As for the adventure side, it's basically got all the stuff in MC players have wanted.
This isn't just some dumb minecraft copy, some real effort is being put into this game. However since it's market will largely consist of minecraft players, it may have to compete with minecraft: dungeons, despite the different gameplay of the 2 games

 

I'm saying it's hideous from a purely graphical standpoint.
