Build Medieval Looking Tower

Hello!

So after i saw that the lanterns were added to the game in the new snapshots i decided to look what my normal tower design would look like with the lanterns added. If you have any feedback please give them, there is always room for improvements.

It looks pretty good!

The only improvements I would suggest are
1. Make it a bit less top-heavy, it looks a bit unrealistic with the top being so much bigger than the supporting structure.
2. Use a bit more block variation for the stone part of the build - maybe some cobblestone, cracked stone bricks, stuff like that.

Everything else is amazingly well-done, and it looks great!

I’d say make the roof not stick out as much. Maybe make it go only a bit out from the structure itself, but not like 5 blocks like it is now. Maybe 1 or 2 blocks out.

Another option is to either make the entire top portion smaller or make the supporting pillar wider.

 

How is it overdetailed?

 

Erm okay, but i see in your signature that you give "free build advice" so go ahead, give advice instead of saying "bad, overdetailed"

Add a few stairs into the walls, to give it a little more depth

 

I would really love it if you would include a few more block types and try to have some variety and creativity with your detailing, the general shape of the build lacks and is boring, as it is stand alone. try and put multiple buildings at the top, while adding some brightly saturated colors to increase and reinforce the idea of it being fantasy. This build style is just too cliche for today's standards, try being a little bit more creative.

I take that back, it was bad wording, the detailing is alright but its really old school, and this person is clearly in the latest snapshot, so an exception really cannot be given. The main issue here should be out dated techniques,

Don’t do that. There are tons of people who can help teach you new technicques, just ask around and you can find someone willing to teach.

I was in the same situation half a year ago, the only difference being my builds were a million times worse. Don’t give up, just remember to always look for ways to improve builds, even in the smallest ways.
