Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Mother, who's Diana?"

 

"Oh...that's rather mean of her. I guess she can be pretty mean sometimes without realising though." Katie says, a little surprised.


Abigail bandages her hand as Stephanie watches what it does next.

 

“I meant to warn her about Iris, who took particular offense to this. Notably, I heard rumors she’d come here and try to support rival kingdoms in this realm.”


The phoenix curls up on the towel, and after it shoves its head under its wing it looks like a red-orange puffball.

“I don’t know.”
“I was just nearby when I saw the summoning. I thought it might be for me, I didn’t mean to interrupt.”

 

"I don't really know much about the other kingdoms here. Aj says he has a lot of influence though." Katie says happily.


Stephanie draws the curled-up phoenix, Abigail glancing at it before going into her living room and turning on the TV, uncaring.

 

I scratch the dog on the head, then find a place to sit.

 

"Oh. Okay. I thought it was because you two might know each other, but I was wrong."

 

“I heard he just had a standoff with one of the other kings fairly recently... well, recent as of a week ago.”


There’s a heavy knock at Abigail’s door.
“I know she left the egg here. Are you going to give me the child, or am I taking it by force?” A low voice growls.

You have your choice of five different chairs in the entry area, the dog taking a spot on the couch.

Linda shakes her head.
“I suppose it’s nice to meet you...”
“Again, my apologies for intruding. I’ll take my leave.”
Diana starts to fade.

 

"Oh no, did he get hurt?" Katie asks worriedly.


Stephanie heads to the front door, before walking around it and phasing through the wall. She pokes her head out, looking at who's at Abigail's door.

 

“I think Aj was fine, but I can’t say the same for the other king.”


The dragon from earlier seems to be waiting, bloody gauntlets over its front claws.

 

"I hope he doesn't start a war. Everything here has been so peaceful." Katie says, sounding down.


Abigail lazily gets up and goes to the front door, opening it.

"What do you want?" Abigail asks.

 

“Apparently there was already tension, though I find that in part hard to believe.”


“Give me the child.” The dragon growls, slipping its tail between the door and the door frame.

 

"Well, I'll make sure you get to safety if you get caught in a battle here. I don't want anyone to get hurt." Katie says, giving Rineth a smile.


"What child? Who even are you?" Abigail asks with a bad temper.

 

“I appreciate it, though my voidwalking techniques seem to work here as well. I should be able to slip away if I need to.”


“You know exactly what I’m talking about, and you don’t need to know. Though, if you hand them over I’ll tell you.”

 

"Oh, ok!" Katie says happily, "What are voidwalking techniques?"


"I don't. Look, if this is some kind of door-to-door salesman type of thing, I'm not interested. I don't want your shitty product, whatever it is. Please leave before I call the neighborhood watch." Abigail says, annoyed.

 

"Again, no worries."

 

“It’s a somewhat uncommon magic that uses the Void as a middle point for getting between realms or moving faster throughout one. Strangely enough, I can enter a void-like realm here and move around the Shadow Realm faster than shadow travel.”


“I’m only going to kill the phoenix. Look, Abigail, things aren’t pretty for your enemies in Ihra’s reality. I either get this child back to Atavul and I can be free, or he forces me into another ten reincarnations of chaos and bloodshed.” The dragon sighs, tone changing immensely. “Atavul’s been a lot tougher since Rose took refuge here. Please, let me out of his cruel game.”

Linda pauses for a moment.
“Wait a minute, Diana.”
She stops fading.
“Yes?”
“You’re lying.”
“Hmph... you’re correct.”
Rema seems shocked.
“Please, don’t leave...”
“I’m here, aren’t I?”

 

"So you can move faster than the speed of light?" Katie asks, surprised.


"Abigail? You mean the slut the next volcano over?" Abigail asks, confused, "Look, I don't have any phoenixes and I don't know who this Atavul bloke is. Please leave me alone."

Abigail quickly glances over at Stephanie, making sure to look her in the eyes.

"I should warn you, I've found a way to channel my fighting spirit into a separate entity. You won't like what happens if you piss me off." Abigail says, serious.

Stephanie appears behind Abigail, her projection now covered in armour. She floats just behind Abigail with her arms crossed.

 

“Distance in the Void is a bit skewed, so usually yes. I haven’t tried it much here, so I don’t know if I can do so here.”


The dragon blinks.
“So... you call yourself a slut, call your friends perverts, and are using Stephanie as a scare tactic? I... uh... I can see your soul, you know.”

 

"I didn't know our reality had a void. What's it like?" Katie asks, curious.


Abigail's hands start to glow.

"How do you know all of this?" Abigail asks, narrowing her eyes.

 

“It’s a void-like realm. It’s empty, emptier than the Void. There aren’t many rules of reality there, even gravity fluxuates.”


“You’re part of the shadow king’s group. Doomed hundreds of us to countless rounds in Atavul’s cruel game. All of us know you. All of us know all of your friends. So-called saviors damning countless beings to Atavul’s bloody theatrics.” The dragon says bluntly.
