Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“Not easily in terms of vertical movement, but horizontal movement and hovering is fine.”

 

Katie stays beside him, people seeming to move out of her and Rineth's way as they walk. The medical ward seems to be fairly empty, the only other person present being a guard with her arm in a sling waiting patiently. A receptionist smiles at Rineth as he enters.


"Well, don't make any deals with her. Demons cannot be trusted." Aquira says.

 

I power them both quickly and for a short time, testing it out.

 

Rineth approaches the receptionist.
“Do you have any critical surgery teams available?” Rineth asks, revealing his skinned face, shattered jaw, gouged eye, wing that’s barely attached, and a metal binding that seems to be holding his left leg together... among other i juries.


“Okay... also, she showed interest in joining your crew.”

You boost yourself a couple feet off the ground.
“There is burnout associated with overuse, but they’re able to put out a lot more power than your old ones.”

 

"Oh my god! O-Of course, I'll get you sorted right away!" The receptionist says, shocked, quickly typing on her computer and picking up a phone.

A couple of minutes later, a team of surgeons steps through the double doors into the waiting area, calling for Rineth.

"I'll wait here for you." Katie says positively.


"Hmph, we'll see." Aquira replies.

 

Rineh nods without turning around to Katie, heading towards the surgeon team.


“She sort of is sitting here with me on the dock at home.”

 

The surgeons usher Rineth through into one of the surgery rooms, an operating table ready for him with a nurse ready to put him to sleep.


"Well, we'll back back in a few months. Stay out of trouble with that demon and be good." Aquira says in a more motherly tone, before cutting the connection.

 

He lays on the operating table, remaining otherwise still.


“O-okay...”

 

Rineth feels a slight sting in his neck as he's injected with a substance that makes him black out.

Strangely, after a few moments, Rineth feels somewhat conscious again, though he's not on the operating table. His body seems to be fully healed, and he seems to be standing in a dark grassy field. A young shadow girl sits on a bench nearby, looking up at a giant, towering tree.

 

He approaches the girl, silent.

 

The girl glances at him, eyes deep red.

"Hello," The girl says, smiling a bit, "Who are you?"

 

“Rineth. You?”

 

"My friends call me Tiffany. Tiff for short." Tiffany says happily.

 

“Tiffany... where am I right now?” Rineth asks, seeming a bit suspicious.

 

Tiffany shrugs.

"I don't remember. I don't remember when I got here either. This is a nice place though." Tiffany says happily.

A shadow squirrel runs down from the tree, digging a hole and burying an acorn before scurrying back up. Tiffany laughs and claps her hands, amused by the skittishness of the squirrel.

 

“How long have you been here, under the tree?” Rineth asks, thunking about Tenebrae.

 

Tiffany just shrugs.

"I think I left my watch at home." Tiffany says, sounding a little sad.

 

“I wonder if the people who brought you here know you’re lonely...”

 

"I'm not lonely!" Tiffany says happily.

 

“How many people come by?”
