“That’s about as much energy output as you’re going to get without overclocking, and I... don’t recommend overclocking unless absolutely necessary. It’s... dangerous.”

 

"No, I mean, the dummy. Do you have something harder you can simulate?"

 

"Really? Oh.."

 

"I'll come with you, I don't want you to get any more hurt." Katie says positively.

 

“I know you meant the dummy. There’s an output limit on what we can give everyone, and the dummy’s near the upper limit.”

I bet those fools really get hunted down like the monsters they are.

Rineth nods.
“Well, I suppose there’s no sense burning daylight.” Rineth says, starting to walk towards the palace interior after reverting to draconian form. “Once we get there, I suggest you look away.”


Aquira feels someone try to telepathically link with her.
“A-m... uh... oh, that hurts less. Is this working?”
The voice is a bit too distorted to make out.

 

"Why?" Katie asks curiously.


"Who's there? Reveal yourself!" Aquira responds impatiently.

 

“I’m missing half of my face.” Rineth says bluntly.


“Mum, I finally figured out this tele... telepie... telep... oh, whatever.” Kiin says, her voice starting to clear up. “The mind talkie spell I’ve been working on learning.”

 

"Yeah, I can relate to that."

"Oh..." Katie says, looking disappointed in herself.


"Excellent. Have you been studying other forms of psychic ability?" Aquira asks.

 

"Alright. How do I dismiss the orb?"

 

"I keep it concealed mostly because this is a realm of typically bloodthirsty beings."


"No, I found this demon in a nice dress and we've both been learning how to use each other's magic. Did you know it's really easy to make fire after freezing something?"

"Triple wink with no correct symbol works just fine, or just use whatever gesture you already have out."

"Not here! Aj says everyone here is really nice and civilized, and wouldn't attack people." Katie says innocently.


"A demon? Kiin, get away from that demon. Now." Aquira says, serious, seeming almost angry with Kiin.

 

“I know. Regardless, it’s a lot more civil not to be bleeding everywhere.”


“She’s not from here. Mother knew her. She’s fine, mum.”

 

I dismiss the orb.
“Anything else?”

 

"Ok." Katie says cheerily, going along with Rineth.


"What's her name?" Aquira says demandingly.

 

"Both, in a way."

“That’s your weaponry, though we also tweaked your jetboots. You could also use those as weapons, but obviously they’re more useful as a utility.”

Rineth walks somewhat slowly through the palace, beelining to the medical wing.


“Rose. Lady Gaia let her stay on Earth, though she’s strong enough to have healed Lady Tenebrae.”

“At least it seems to be keeping you company.”
