Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I wink quickly with my left eye.

 

"No, you aren't bothering me... much. I could let you etch some other design into another tile if you wanted."

"I've made a mess, a cult using my name as an excuse to try and slay the gods back home. They worship me without ever have laying eyes on any part of me... I must ask one last favor. I need to dismantle that cult, I want to hone my earthen magic."


"We do... to an extent that she's crossed. As strange as it is, the Hive Master requested our reality's god of magic try locating her. Nothing. Telepathic transmissions were all shared - no information was hidden."

You suddenly are met with a display of the ship's map. The lab seems to be marked as simply one massive room, the halls branching off into smaller rooms like leaves running down the stem of a flower. There's also a "+2F" indicator off to the side.
"Holomap working?"

 

"If it's not too much to ask."

 

"Well, I know a few people that might be able to help with that." Gaia says, winking.


"We could pray to Praecantatia and Gaia for assistance. Our reality's magic functions differently to yours, after all." Artemis suggests.

"Yes, but would they be willing to help us?" I ask Artemis, who ponders it.

 

“...And you’re sure that’s not too much to ask?”


“You said yourself that Praecantatia is preoccupied. Furthermore, Tenebrae would be far safer in the Void than any other high god you have.

“I have hundreds of these tiles, if you really wanted to I could take you in as an apprentice.”

 

"So far. How would I navigate it?"

 

"Not at all!" Gaia says happily.


Artemis and I glance at each other, thinking.

"It's worth a shot I suppose. I'm closer to Tenebrae than any other god." I say.

"She's helped us in the past, too." Artemis says.

 

"No, no, no.. I'm already way too busy at the moment."

 

"It should auto-update based on your thoughts in conjunction with your movement."

"If you say so... though, on that thought, how's the wedding planning going?"

Fenira nods.
"I... guess the only thing I have left to ask is... when does it all start?"


"Has she recovered since her bout with Atavul? I haven't had the time as of late for visiting."

 

"I should be able to take you back to your reality soon, and I know someone who can deal with your cult." Gaia says positively.


"I believe so. She's been quiet, though." I say, sounding a little concerned.

 

I test it out, thinking of the floor above.

 

The map switches to a nearly identical view, and the indicator switches to "+3F". You also can't see yourself on the map, for obvious reasons.

"No... the cult is my problem. I've asked too much already."


"Perhaps Lux has begun to reform?"

 

“Everything seems to be in order.”
I comment, winking again to turn the map off.
“What’s next?”

 

It shuts off as expected.

"Swallowing with nothing loose in your mouth should overclock the nanobots inside of you, but right now it would be unresponsive as you're undamaged. Instead... what say we head down to the battlefield simulator and test out your new armaments?"

 

"Sounds good."
I nod.
"Lead the way."

 

"Let us know if you fall behind, alright? We haven't calibrated your map to track us on the ship yet." They say, seeming to collapse into dust as the 'dust' begins to move out the door, a large concentration staying back in sight as it takes on a spiral shape.

 

I follow the shape in a jog, pulling up the map again and quickly scanning the floors one by one for anything resembling a training area as I follow.

 

"Don't burden yourself, child." Gaia says calmly. Her voice is so soothing, it seems to make Fenira sleepy.


"Would he be able to?" Artemis asks me.

"It's possible, he's been dead for long enough. With the rage he died with, he could force himself back." I say.

 

"Could be better. I've done a few things, though I'm not sure what Anne did, if she did anything yet."

 

Fenira starts to relax, then shakes her head.
"N-no, I won't let them put your children in danger too."


"I sincerely hope he doesn't try... that... again. Idhaenna has made a bold statement, and I don't like the consequences of it... She's threatened to imprison the next of your gods to come to our reality to strike one of ours down. I know she's aware of what would happen, should she do so. The cataclysm that would stem from her unsheathing her so-called Final Weapon... it would be devastating for both realities." Rineth says, breaking eye contact.

"Considering you came down alone, is she even awake yet?"

It's nearly impossible to tell, the rooms all unmarked on the map except for the droptubes.

The spiral winds forward, leading you about three halls down before stopping and rejoining the rest of the 'dust' cloud in front of a sliding glass door. It's impossible to see anything through the glass, even though it seems perfectly clear.
