Help! Can't Start The First Dungeon

Okay so basically, I've done all that's necessary to start the Decrepit Sewers Dungeon, including receiving the key from the key skeleton dude (Jenprest even tells me to wait for her outside the entrance!) but when I approach, i just get the message "A bone chilling scream comes from inside the sewer..." or something similar but no matter what I do, I can't even get close enough to the gate to give the key to the Key Master. I'm not sure if I'm missing something or if I'm bugged but I'd really appreciate any help either way. Thank you!

 

If you go to the right of the gate, you need to walk up some stairs to finish the quest. Then you can do the dungeon.
