The End Portal Near Trenaves

so, as far as I know people haven't figured out what it is, and Sevult said people were missing something in the most recent (and only) discussion thread i've seen about it. I've not figured out what it actually is, but i noticed the ender-eye-heads on pillars are mostly pointed directly at buttons (with 2 blocks of them, specifically)- i know people already noticed the buttons themselves (and more then i've found, though i've only looked above the lava so far), but nobody mentioned the eyes so i figured it's probably worth mentioning, maybe.
EDIT: oh, and it's been referred to as near detlas, but it's located in the trenaves planes thing so i feel like that's more accurate.

Knowing the community, if people haven't figured out the portal already, I doubt they ever will. We're usually really good at finding easter eggs and secrets, and I would have heard if some group figured out the secrets of the end portal, especially given that it's so well known. I just did some searching around there myself, most of the buttons do nothing, except for one that makes a lone piston sound. I doubt that sound means much, Wynn tends to use command blocks or multiple pistons (I only heard one) for opening doors. I feel like the eyes pointing at the buttons is just coincidental too.

 

is it really that well known? I only see two threads about it (plus one which indirectly mentions with a talking mushroom), and hadn't a clue it existed until today.
about the eyes... yeah it might just be a coincidence, or a way to highlight the buttons. i don't know.

 

I don't know how well known it is, but it's been around for a very long time and isn't too hard to find. Many people have probably seen it and just didn't make a thread about it. Still though, it's a nice find, it's cool to see players like you exploring the world!

Last time I heard about this, it was with the talking mushroom. Idk if this is still true, but it said something along the lines of there being a secret there or something. But I’m assuming nobody could find anything.

 

A while back I have found that when clicking one of the buttons a piston moves but couldn’t find out from where

 

well, I've looked around a bit more, and while I did notice the piston movement and figured out where all the known buttons are, I haven't been able to get anything to change. one thing i noted is that there are two missing eyes of ender in the frame, not 1 as the previous thread claimed all the time, and one of the empty frames is turned the wrong way. don't know what you're supposed to do there, though... well, if other people hadn't figured it out before it can't be easy to do so.

Did people search around particularly much before the talking mushroom was added? if not, or not publicly, then that interpretation doesn't make sense.

 

I searched before and after mushroom and everytime there was an update to the game, I've never been able to find anything.
