Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“Admittedly it’s not absolute, but... well, I’ll never understand anything that’s alive. They often make things harder on themselves for trivial reasons.”

She flies towards the island, a bit worn out from the ascent.


“Petunia. I was hoping you had more paradoxium for me to play with.”

 

It takes a while to get there, but upon arrival, she immediately notices it's not entirely uninhabited. A few teenagers seem to be living on it, having tamed some of the islands growth with wooden structures.


"I don't, unfortunately. It's a rather hard substance to come by, even more so store. My alchemy studies into it have all been fruitless, too." Praecantatia explains.

 

"Weren't you alive? Well, I guess that doesn't mean that you have to understand it."

 

“Hindsight is 20-20, and reflecting on my past hurts.”

Fenira opts to leave them alone, continuing on.


“What happened to all the paradoxium that you left sitting around? Did you use it all?”

 

"Fair enough."

 

“Anyhow, anything you’re curious about on my end? Oh, actually, how’s your room?”

 

"My room's fine. It's barren, but relatively fine."

 

It's quite a long while until Fenira finds land again, this time a giant, populated beach. Hundreds of guardians all seem to be enjoying themselves on it.


"Some, but I require it," Praecantatia says dismissively, "I wouldn't advise you visit, either. It's quite dangerous, I've been removing the demonic blood from my daughter's Shadow's body. The process has some rather...cursed side effects."

 

The empty plane turns into your room, this time with more furniture and a golden retriever.
“Is this better?” Stella asks.

Fenira looks for an open spot to land, doing her best to avoid accidental eye contact.


Pause.
“Okay, but how much paradoxium do you think you have, and what are you doing that requires the highest concentration of the stuff I’ve seen?”

 

I smile.
"I like the added touch of the dog."

 

“Companionship usually goes a long way. Any other changes you’d like?”

 

I take a bit to look around.
"No, this is great."

 

It looks furnished enough to house a family... or three, considering it’s a mansion.
“If you ever want to try more tweaks to your living quarters, let me know.”

 

I nod.
"Will do."

 

People look at Fenira as she comes in for a landing. There's a large patch of sand at the back of the beach that nobody seems to be occupying, however.


"You needn't know." Praecantatia says coyly.

 

"I'm just confused. Let's just forget about it and keep it at the fact that you know about my wife's abilities."

"So.. just put the metal in the fire, and lets continue."

 

If it’s the most open spot, she tries to land there, else she tries to find somewhere more vacant.


“I might not need to know what you’re doing with it, but you’ve got eight times your size worth of paradoxium there and you aren’t doing anything with most of it.”

The mansion vanishes, leaving just the plane once again.
“Well, I’m out of prompts. You know what to do if you have any questions.”

Epsi nods, doing just that.

A minute later, he takes it out of the fire again and places the red-hot smiley octagon back on the anvil.

 

Once Fenira lands, she feels the sand grainy and hot beneath her feet. After a short while, it starts to burn.


"Need I be?" Praecantatia asks.

 

"Yep. I'll ask you."

 

"What do you think so far?"

I say as I start rounding the edges.
