"I was cursed for petrifying the Gaia of my reality... I would never forgive myself if I did so to you."

"Well... at least we haven't had to replace Rema's books, then. Last time something didn't come out right she almost brought this whole mountain down."

"Any table will be fine, we'll have it brought to your room."

 

"Well, we're not exactly alike, so I would think things would be different if you tried to petrify me." Gaia says positively.

 

"Oh wow. Yeah, why even live in a cave if you're working with such dangerous things? Explosions in such small rooms are dangerous."

 

"Still, I immobilized the high goddess of life and earth... seeing as you are goddess of more than just the earth element, I fear that it would not only petrify you, but immobilize you for more than the week it affected my reality's Gaia."
Pause.
"...Of course, I don't need to worry about that, do I? You don't need to look at me, you said."

"Because if you cause explosions outside of caves, everyone who lives on the island comes to you and tries to figure out what's going on."

 

"Doesn't mean you'll be alive after the people get to you."

 

"We also were forced to keep it underground so it doesn't disturb anyone but us. If a cave-in does happen... well, I guess that's that."

 

"Way to be positive..."

 

"I don't." Gaia says, raising her hands. A large runic circle surrounds Fenira.

 

“Alright.”
I start un-equipping myself, placing my pendant, hammer, sword, rag, and clothes on the nearest table.

 

Fenira looks down again, seeming hopeful.

“There’s not a whole lot of positive. People think dragon hunters are heroes, and plenty of so-called heroes are itching to slay my kin. We take what we can get.”

Once the kitsune finishes with their tinkering, they open the capsule door and glance at your sword.
“How many times have you used the blade? It seems more like a setpiece than a weapon.”

 

"Isn't it dangerous to go into town then? What if one of those hunters find you?"

 

“I use it a lot. Or, used it a lot.”
I shrug.

 

Gaia opens and closes her hands. The moment they close, Fenira is immediately and completely petrified. A strong telekinetic force surrounds her stone body, crushing her into a tiny singular point, forming a crystal out of her remains.

 

Three days later, Fenira’s remains attempt to form into a one-headed hydra.

“...How resilient. Strange.”
“Dawn, is everything ready?”
“My apologies. Yes, step into the chamber when you are ready.”

“Those hunters are exiled from town. I am safe deep in caves and in town, and not much else.”

 

"That's... yeah.. not great. Can't really travel around much."

 

I nod, then briskly walk into the chamber.

 

The hydra finds itself forming in the hands of a wooden carving of Gaia, though it breaks apart in the process.

 

Fenira looks over her body, a bit confused.

The door automatically closes, and you feel two small drills bore into your head before things go black.

A minute or so later, you find yourself on some holographic plane, a small projector sitting nearby.

“It’s troublesome, but we still thrive.”

 

Fenira feels a strange weightless sensation for a split second, before she hits the ground. Luckily, the ground is soft and the fall was only about three meters.

 

"Sure."
