Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Ah, right. But can people even get inside when you're blocking the door with your face?"

 

Amethyst nods.
"I'll do my best to remain deserving of this."

"Yeah, usually I'm just in the window, or the back door. They always have about five doors."

 

I follow him, trying to find the sources of voices.

 

Leilia smiles again, before disappearing in a flash to let Amethyst get used to her new room.

 

Nothing or nobody you see en route, but he soon leads you to two sets of double doors.
"In case you haven't already guessed, these doors lead to the main robotics lab. Don't pay any mind to limbs that have yet to be placed in storage."

Amethyst heads to her bed, lays down, then quickly falls asleep.
...On the floor.

 

The next time Amethyst comes close to waking, she feels herself under an unbelievably soft duvet on a springy yet firm mattress, a cool pillow supporting her head.

 

“Are they particularly disturbing?”

 

"Right. That's normal."

 

"Depends. The clean cuts aren't, but some of the more precise removals are a bit hard for some people to look at. Not that the squeamish ever seem to get over it...”

“I never quite understood why. I would think two or three doors are enough, but I’ve seen buildings with dozens.”
Pause.
“That aside, these trinkets won’t do much for you right now. I might have a few that would serve some purpose, but I lost track when we took refuge from the storm.”

Amethyst winds up sleeping for another two weeks before stirring...


In the shadow wilderness, hundreds of crushed pieces of petrified beasts lead you to Fenira. She stares at the ground, body trembling as if standing is a struggle.

 

"Speaking of the storm. Did anything on this island take damage or get destroyed maybe?"

 

Once Amethyst is awake, she finds a small pile of wrapped presents by her door, as well as a small, white robot with a red eye; seeming to keep track of the room.


"So, you're this fan of Medusa who managed to get into my realm then?" I ask.

 

"I'll be fine."
I shrug.

 

She seems startled, almost turning to you before keeping her gaze anchored to the ground.
“Who’s Medusa? And yes, I was offered hope before being left out here.”

“Alright. I think this is the room I was augmented in...”
Thirteen pushes the doors open, and the scent of blood and flesh fills the room.

There’s hundreds of pieces of machinery, blood trails on the floor, and a faint scent of burnt hair and flesh.

“No, this island is shielded. It would have been devastating, otherwise.”

 

The robot lazily shifts it's vision to look at Amethyst.


"Who left you out here?" I ask.

 

"Yeah, you guys were pretty lucky if you ask me."

 

She seems confused, squinting at the robot.


“The palace guard rejected my passage to Gaia’s domain, forced me out or they’d cut me down. A woman named Eve offered to help, but she vanished and has yet to return. Still I wait, she’s the only being who’s come to me here and not tried to end me.”

“Things get crazy here, the shield keeps things from getting in or out when needed.”

 

"Hello." The robot says in a rather high pitched voice.


"Eve? Did she look human, but with robotic features?" I ask.

 

“Uh... hi? How long have you been here?”


“Yes, that sounds right.” Fenira nods.

 

"Approximately. 1. week." The robot says.


"One moment." I say, turning away and putting a hand to my head.

 

"I heard about the shield. Who makes it?"
