Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"In what sense? I came here to recover, though if I am disturbing things I can look for a place to lay on land."


Amethyst finally gets enough sense in her to take the key, nervously walking forward and looking around at all the room has to offer.

 

"Course not. Extra money for the same product sounds great."

 

"It is, but at the same time, people try to copy them and pass them off as dragonmade when they're not. Some people have me sit there in the back of their shop to help convince customers that a dragon did indeed make the trinkets I made. It feels like a waste of time, but benefits are just about always welcome."

 

"No-No. I can see you are sharing your recovery with the life around you, I'll leave you to recover in peace." The water guardian says hastily, diving back under the surface.


The floor is carpeted, coloured a navy blue, and feels like soft fur under Amethyst's feet. A large wardrobe seems big enough to store hundreds of Amethyst's creations, even big enough to serve as a spare bed. There appears to be a round light switch and temperature dial on the wall behind Amethyst, as well as a door with the sign "Bathroom" on it. Everything in the room seems brand new, as if it was built moments before Amethyst arrived just for her. The walls are painted gradient shades of purple, while the ceiling above is a brilliant white.

 

“Alright. Anything else I should know before I go in?”

 

"The easy way to not flatten yourself is to simply state the number of the floor you wish to arrive on, and the droptube will eject you at a relatively safe velocity upon reaching said floor."

"Are you su-"
Gaia sighs, shifting slightly before closing her eye and idling again.


"I mean... thanks. I don't... it seems like too much, though." Amethyst says, still uneasy.

 

“Sounds easy enough.”

 

"Well, I'll let you pick your method of choice, then." He says, stepping into the droptube, pushing off the back edge, and vanishing from sight two floors above.

 

I go into the droptube, say “Two.”, then get ready to push off the edge into floor two.

 

The water guardian resurfaces after hearing Gaia, but seeing Gaia with her eyes closed, dives back underwater and swims off.


"What do you mean?" Leilia asks, concerned.

 

"Sounds boring, yeah."

 

The air current pushes you out, and you land on your feet fairly easily.
“Ready?”

“It’s also hard for me to fit in some buildings.”

Gaia drifts off again, remaining still.


“It seems a little odd to be offered all this for something that cost me nothing. I mean, I don’t have any money anyways, but... it just seems like a lot for nothing.”

 

"Oh, yeah. Human-sized buildings are way too small for dragons."

 

I nod, looking around.

 

"It cost you time, effort and skill, didn't it?" Leilia asks.

 

"I guess..." Amethyst says, still uneasy.

It looks nearly identical to the main floor, hold the fact that the carpet is a slightly different hue, and you can hear other people down the halls.

Thirteen starts walking away from the tubes; you aren't sure exactly what direction is what, but it's to the left of the ascending tube.

"Yeah. Can you imagine me fitting in a one-story convenience store? Usually my head's the only thing that's actually inside."

 

"What's the matter?" Leilia asks, kneeling down, looking a little disheartened.

 

"And you don't scare people away?"

 

"It's just so much... I've never had this much, ever." She says, shaken but not unhappy.

"Dragon in the building means new stock, so no."

 

Leilia smiles, positive mood returning.

"I hope you enjoy it then!" Leilia says happily.
