Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"What it's like, living here?"

 

"Depends. Living quarters sculpt themselves to the inhabitant. For some, it's a humid jungle. For others, it's a silent cave or a barren desert."

 

"Oh. Interesting."

 

"You don't know what it does? Nice..."

 

"Hm." I say, after the bubble I'm blowing pops and I remove the sticky gum from my face.


"All Hallow's Sunday, as we've called it. The spirits appear to have been more active following All Hallow's Eve this year." The guard says.

 

Gaia partially stands up.
"Well, if you don't mind, stretching my legs would be nice."


"Agh, I missed part of it! Is the queen still here?" She asks, suddenly a bit panicked.

"I thought I did, but it shouldn't become harder to stir. Something tainted the brew, so I get to figure out what happened." She sighs.

"I'm curious what yours will be, though I can tell you what you start out with - an empty room."

 

"I see. So.. where is this friend of yours?"

 

I nod, heading over to the entrance to the vault as I blow another bubble.


"Not in the palace. She has gone to see her citizens." The guard informs happily.

 

"Friend? The person I sell potions to?"

Gaia gets up slowly, the ground rumbling a bit as she gets back on her feet.


"Am I that late...?" Amethyst mumbles. "I finally have her costume finished. I didn't know it'd been this long..." She sighs.

 

"That's to be expected. I don't exactly know if you have any clairvoyants on board."

 

I keep an eye on the piles of items to make sure Gaia doesn't damage anything as I open the first door of the vault.


"Time gets the better of all of us." The guard shrugs.

 

"The person you were going to get while I was stirring your brew. I forgot the nickname you had for him."

 

"Oh, Epsi?"

The only thing Gaia flattens are coins in what seem to be blind spots due to her size.


"By any chance could you let her know it's finished?"

"I doubt it. Magic is scarcely practiced on starships."

 

"Yes, Epsi. Where's he? Or she."

 

“I gathered that it wasn’t practiced much here regardless.”

 

"Idhaenna discourages learning magic due to its effect on the spectral and dream plane. She's been known to seek out those who practice it and... deal with them."

"He's down the other cave branch. You should see the blue lights if you head towards the exit."

 

"I thought.. you were bringing him here for the brew.. or something."

 

"No, just to get vials. He usually does most of the trading, seeing as nobody calls him a witch or a dark magi."

 

I pay the money little mind, stepping into an area between the vault and palace.


"Certainly." The guard says, leaving Amethyst's sight.

 

“Noted.”
I nod.
