Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Other fire guardians." Vexa says, concentrated on the Orichalcum too much to focus on telepathy.

The fire guardian dashes off out of the shop.


Within a minute, the door opens again, Leilia changed back to her normal royal attire, holding a now neatly folded dress. She heads back towards Amethyst's room to return it there.

 

“I don’t see any reason to get off the ship.”
I raise an eyebrow.

 

Ruby waits for their return.


Amethyst seems to already have slunk back into her room, the door open and Amethyst inside already working with red and orange fabric.

“Getting back to the Void Palace? Anything else you may choose to do... though they should be accommodating enough for that to be unnecessary.”

 

After a while, the fire guardian returns with a small bag of coins.

"I-...I think this is-...enough." The fire guardian says, taking breaks to breathe, seeming to have run to the shop. They put the bag of coins on the counter, which jingles.


Leilia gently puts the dress down near her, before leaving quietly as to not disturb Amethyst.

 

“Alright.”
I shrug.

 

Ruby opens the bag and counts out the money.
"You okay?"


She stops what she's doing to haul the dress all the way inside, before stuffing it inside and closing the door.

Idhaenna glances back at you from the terminal.
"Well, unless you want me to shove you through the warpgate..."

 

"Yeah...just didn't want to...keep you waiting." The fire guardian says, exhausted.

There seems to be seven hundred and fifteen gold and 20 silver.

 

“Right.”
I head on through.

 

"You didn't have to run. Also... it looks like you're just short 30 silver, but I'll cover it, I don't want you passing out here." Ruby says, handing the guardian an empty bag and the claws.

You feel yourself become briefly weightless before finding yourself in a carpeted hallway, wide open doors leading into what looks to be a control room.

 

I start walking to the control room, looking around a bit more.

 

"Short?...It was seven hundred and twelve right?" The fire guardian asks, taking the claws.

 

A furred kobold-esque creature seems to stare at you as you enter, though a mask depicting digital eyes makes it impossible to be sure. Some sort of wire-like wrappings around their wrists stand out amidst otherwise casual clothes.
"Hey, it's here." It says in a distorted voice, eyes on the mask narrowing.
A human spins away from a console.
"Ah, are you the... well, other Thirteen?"

Ruby stops, facepalming.
"You're right, I can't count. I'm so sorry about that, I overdid it last night and didn't sleep a wink." She says, passing back 20 gold and the silver. "Hopefully that makes up for my mistake."

 

"Thanks." The fire guardian says appreciatively, taking their claws and money and leaving the shop.

The fire guardian stops at the door, the claws seeming to hit some kind of barrier preventing them from being taken further.

 

"I'm silly. Runelocks. I might not be able to do this on my own."

"Vexa, what's the rune combo to disable the locks on a weapon?"

 

"Oh, I'll dispel it for you. Give me a moment." Vexa says.

A few moments later, the fire guardian manages to move the claws out the door.

"Thanks!" The fire guardian says, leaving happily with his new claws.

 

"I'll consider it. Got a lot of things planned."

 

“I’m not used to the title of ‘other’, but my name is Thirteen.”
I say to the human.

 

"I'm so sorry about that." Ruby says sheepishly as he leaves.

"I sold it for 700 because I screwed up with the customer. Twice. I'll cover the difference."

"As is mine." The masked creature responds.
"He's not too happy with the thought of another one with his same name." The human sighs.
"I submit seventeen requests Lady Idhaenna station you on any other arkship. Here you are."

 

"What did you do?" Vexa asks, sounding disappointed.

 

“Many people have the same names, you know.”
I point out.
