Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I head through the portal, approaching Idhaenna.
"Hello."

 

Ruby simply waits, keeping an eye on the woman.


“Yes, I just wanted to make a costume for the queen.” Amethyst says, pulling the sleeve back into the room.

She seems distracted for a bit, then looks down.
“Oh, good. It’s not often people get to me before I’m ready... could you go have EBB escort you to launch bay beta?” She says, still distracted.

 

I nod, then head over to EBB, assuming it heard.
"EBB?"

 

"But at the same time you're not. You have a different body, but we share the same mind."

 

It nods, moving slowly (or at least, not instantaneously) down a hallway, a door opening once it approaches.

True, but we’re two halves of a whole.

 

I follow him once more.

 

As you walk, you notice several streams of blurred... something... go by on either side of you. It’s almost like you’re walking amidst transmitted data.

 

I pay little attention to the blurs, assuming they're off to do their own thing.

 

EBB glances back at you.
“I’m not programmed to have emotions, but I may as well pass time. What have you been doing recently? Everyone seems to be doing something nowadays.”

 

"Expanding my horizons. Whether it be common knowledge or combat prowess, I've been working hard to better myself."
I say, looking back to EBB.

 

“Admirable. If you don’t mind me asking, what were you built for? My database lacks an answer to that query.”

 

"Quality-of-life. Servitude. General assistance. My descendants were to be sold for a profitable margin, no doubt making my creators rich while spurring infuriating ethical debates."

 

The woman shifts her gaze back to Vexa when she returns, carrying a few hammers and metal club, putting them on the counter. Somehow, Ruby still feels watched by the woman, despite the fact she isn't looking at her.


"That's awfully kind of you. Shall I inform her highness?" The guard asks.

 

"But still complete opposites."

 

“Good to see a slave freed from its master. Were you meant to be programmed to improve yourself?”

Ruby simply obscures her thoughts and attempts to scan the woman’s soul.


“I want it to be a surprise, though I suppose I could have her test out what I have done so far.” Amethyst says. “I might need help getting it out the door, though.”

They do say opposites attract... though yeah, kinda funny.

 

"No, but a lot of my design is intentionally based on improvisation."

 

It's hard to read the woman's soul, the same magical aura preventing her thoughts from being read cloaking it too. However, Ruby can tell the soul is neither human, guardian or Shadow.


"Do you know her highness's measurements? And, will it be able to shift with her form?" The guard asks, sounding willing to help.

 

Ruby remains wary.


“Shifting with her form I haven’t gotten to yet, but yes I do know her measurements.”

“Poor planning or adaptation?”

 

"A combination of both."

 

Vexa begins explaining the traits of the weapons she's presented, the woman taking them and lifting them with ease as she feels their weight. Vexa creates a stone statue after the woman asks to test out some of the weapons, and she destroys it in a single swing, leaving nothing but dust behind.


"Ah, excellent. I shall inform her highness when you wish me to, then." The guard says, turning to leave.
