Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“Will the forge go back into the lava on its own?”


Mary watches the turtles until they leave her sight, then floating up to the surface to look at the waves.

After a brief transition of feeling nothing, your normal senses return as you wake up next to a still quietly snoring Anne curled up on a pillow next to you.

 

Vexa waves a hand, a small fireball falling into the volcano. The forge sinks below the surface again.


The waves are calm, collapsing on the shore only to reform and collapse again. They don't turn up much sand, but enough to smooth sharper pieces.

 

"Wanna swap so that you get some rest?"

 

Nah, we’d wake her up. Let’s not do that.

Ruby continues on, moving fairly slow for Vexa.


She closes her eyes and circles the island quietly, scanning for any souls that appear wayward or unfamiliar.

 

"Other time next day?"

 

Vexa unlocks her shop once she arrives, taking the Orichalcum into the back room and storing it away out of sight.

"Do you want to stay here tonight? Your room is still available." Vexa asks.


There doesn't appear to be anyone out of place for miles around, though Mary finds a lot of souls in some of the deeper parts of the ocean.

 

“Sure.” Ruby nods. “May as well.”


Mary keeps circling the island throughout the night, watching for any passing vessels.

Sure. Maybe in the middle of the day, because you know how I get with the moon.

 

"Gotcha. But we can't just go to sleep in the middle of the day.."

 

Vexa nods to Ruby, before heading up to her own bedroom and falling asleep immediately.


Mary detects a vessel nearby after a while, though considering fact only two guardians appear to be on it, it's most likely not a threat.

 

Ruby closes Vexa's door before idling over her bed.


She approaches it anyways, trying to get close enough to better identify the passengers onboard.

You might not be able to, but I sure can.

 

"Ah, right. Sorry about that..."

 

Ruby's room is almost exactly how she left it, the only things different are clean bedsheets as well as the room being tidier.


It appears to be a water guardian romantically singing for his air guardian passenger as he slowly pushes the boat along. She appears to be enjoying it, laying back and watching the stars.

 

She glances out the window before entering deep meditation.


Mary leaves them alone, keeping her distance before returning to the island.

No worries. You're not nocturnal, I am. Besides, it's better you keep me in here. A lot of people seem scared of werewolves, it's sort of weird.

 

The world seems to be at peace for a while, everything quiet and calm.


A few forest guardians on a night watch welcome Mary back, though don't leave their posts.

 

Ruby just goes deeper into meditation, silent.


Mary waves back at them, staying in the water and eventually dozing off near the surface, looking somewhat like a crocodile waiting to strike.

 

Nobody comes to disturb Ruby, very few sounds throughout the night.


Nobody seems to be intimidated by the appearance, water guardians heading up onto the island past Mary without fear.

 

"We are one of the biggest predators there is. I can see why people are scared."

 

Ruby breaks her trance come sunrise, looking out the window again.


Being asleep, she doesn't notice.

That's also why sleeping during the day helps. People don't spend their day trying to hunt us or avoiding us. Besides, sun plus fur gets really warm really fast.

 

"Anne doesn't mind the sun, but she's a fire fox basicly. She's probably used to it."

 

The sun sleepily begins its ascent into the sky once more, light breaking across the mountain and illuminating the world. An earth guardian jogs by below, keeping a constant pace.


Mary is awakened by what feels like a slimy tentacle running down her back.
