"Probably, but they must have measurements for that."

 

He glances up at her while she looks that way.
"It's unlocked from the inside." He comments.

"I mean, I guess you could sleep outside, but then what's the point of having a house?"

 

"Ragnyon was sleeping outside when she was travelling around as a prophet. She probably does it often."

 

"I mean Sgavrinn's actual owner. Ragnyon's always been a nomad."

 

"She wasn't his original owner?"

 

"I know she used to get around on her own, so I doubt Ragnyon is his owner."

 

"How long was that ago? Since you've last seen her, I mean."

 

Katie nods, eventually getting up and leaving silently.

 

“I dunno... You weren’t born yet but I don’t know exactly how long before that. She was right, though - she said family you have yet to meet would... well, you did what she foretold.”

She isn’t followed out, and the castle interior is silent once the door hides itself once again.

 

"How much older then me are you?"

 

Katie silently makes her way back to the portal to the void palace, not letting anything distract her this time, and head back through the portal to the Realm of Shadows; face blank the entire time.

 

"I was eight when you were born."

Avis gives her a bit of a confused look as she sits near the portal back to the Shadow Realm, but doesn't bother getting up to investigate.

 

"Hmm."

 

"How old are you now, if you don't mind me asking?"

 

"Eh.. Looking at myself, listening to my voice, and maybe feeling a bit different. I would say.. 30 something. Maybe 40?"

 

“Did you actually forget how old you are?”

 

Katie doesn't seem to notice, or she does and doesn't glance. She heads through the palace gates after entering the portal, leaving it's view.

 

"I haven't celebrated my birthday every year, if that's what you're thinking."

 

"You should, celebrating's fun. Gotta have a good time once in a while."

A while after Katie left for the Shadow Realm, Ruby passes through to head back to the forge.

 

Ruby isn't disturbed or followed; smiled at, even.
