Boindil casts speak with animals and asks: "What kind of bird are you?"

 

I believe Speak With Animals is used to communicate simple ideas, not words.

 

Although limited by the intelligence of the beast, you can understand and speak with beasts. You learn about the beast's experiences over the last day, as well as local places and creatures.

If your DM allows, the beast may also complete a small task for you, if you can successfully convince it to do so.

In the distance you all hear a loud, eerie bell chime and the bird jumps. Its eyes glow brighter and it caws at you, exhaling a cloud of smoke.

 

"What was that?"

You get a sense of urgency from the bird

The bird lifts off, flying away, covered in smoke.
You all hear another bell chime, and a wave of dark clouds ripple across the sky from a point of origin that is a giant cloud of smoke approaching the island from the west.

 

"Bad weather."

 

"Go inside?"
