The Crell Archives (fantasy Rp) [6/8]

So I had quite a bit written down for this, and even had a nice teaser for the next arc of the story, but it didn’t get saved. In light of that and my schedule I’m gonna be a little lazy. Some history and world structure will be explained here, but I’m gonna direct people over to the interest thread I made that has some good information in it. Please do read through the entire thread cause Nozomi asked a lot of good questions. It also has a map but I will update that in this thread.

Do note this may be slow moving, as well as focused more on OP characters so don’t shy away from that. I am limiting meta gaming though.

Alright world structure and History:
First off, race of magic creatures called Crell play a heavy part in this world, a lot of it is explained over in the interest thread.
I’m structuring the world so that it’s a mirror of our world map, all the same continents and stuff. Since I’m lazy, any country that’s not in either American Continent will keep its name and basically be a copy, but some changes history, for instance Greece has Crell instead of Greek gods. Start of the roleplay will be about 200 years after the start of colonization of Eastern North America, and will focus around a pseudo country in the place of North and South Carolina (I will release a map but interest thread has a basic one).

For character creation I will help with foreign characters or if you need supplemental history please ask away.

Magic system recap:
I will keep track of spells for you, basically giving everyone some elemental control, small telekinesis for things about the size of books, and shielding spells. Characters can and will learn new stuff which I will keep in a spoiler box on their character applications which I will put in a spoiler.

Magic Items: any physical object imbued with magic, categorized into weapons, defenses( stuff like armor) , support( stuff for healing, amping up your power, or providing a physical enhancement, this includes potions) , and mixed( stuff like a physical shield, which could have multiple functions) these categories don’t matter too much but I’ll use them in the rp so I put in a explanation.

Specialties: Magic you excell at, it is usually specific( like can manipulate sand),but also useable without spellcasting. This is what you should use most and base your character and fights around. Your speciality is what you should rely on most. Let me say that specialties can be anything and everything so go as crazy and wacky as you want. One of the NPCs can control very specifically mummy wrappings, so go wild.

Casting types: for simplicity I’m going to just use spellcasting, unless a player greatly prefers something else.
Magic beasts: these are usually variations on animals that have been infused with magic, by a rogue Crell, by a mage, or by a natural magic source.

Monsters: Mages don’t know where these come from or why but they can be quite difficult to subdue and take on many forms. Usually requires a team of mages. *wink*

Rogue Crell: as a clarification, rogue Crell are mentally unstable, and release wanton magic into the world, they can be drawn to and contained by powerful young unbonded mages. Such bonds tend to create new branches of magic, or new applications of magic.

Just a few more things about the Application

Theme: this is cosmetic only, it’s basically a symbol that will appear on different magic you use. This can be anything from swords to cats to triangles, basically anything.

Magic color: kinda self explanatory, the color of your magic.

Magic Items: please limit about two or three items, include what it is, appearence, and magical function.

Crell: description of your Crell, including relative age( maturity level) whether or not it was a rogue Crell, appearance of Crell, and the Crells magic( should correspond with mages specialty)

Because it's secretly a Persona reference (ie. being a physical representation of Ian's heart), all my spells are gonna be ripped from the Persona 5's spell list (garu, rakukaja, cleave, etc).

Just a few remarks, since your backstory is a face, are you new to the academy or have you been there?

Also if you expect me to know persona references then I don’t so if you reference something obscure you’ll have to explain it.

You recieved a letter a few days ago from a place called Igrathal Academy. All it said was Archaeologist needed, and then a rather large amount of money. Given the amount you decided to check it out.

You are now outside the schools gates, looming before you is a large, gray stone wall, about 50 or 40 feet tall as best you can tell. Even though it’s early morning the sun is already up and you can feel the air starting to warm. As you approach the gate you can hear teens yelling and laughing. A voice suddenly booms out from the top of the wall “What is your business here?”

You’ve just walked out of the student dormitory, a large, gray, rectangular building. It’s the start of a new school year today but you’ve already cleared all the academic classes, now you just need to start getting contracts to fight monsters. You look across the large grass yard to the large tower that dominates the sky inside Igrathal’s walls. You see a group of people walking past and watch as one of them turns and points at you. They all start walking toward you. You recognize them as one of the more distinguished student hunting guilds.

You recognize their leader, Anubis. He’s wrapped in bandages up to his neck. You’ve seen the rest of them before but don’t know their names.

Anubis raises his hand and wave at you. “Hello there! We’re looking for new recruits.”

 

"You should know." If I have the letter, show him and say no more.
If I don't; "I'm the archaeologist the school asked for."

 

You hold up the letter and the gates start moving upward, they stop about head height for you. “Alright get in.” the voice calls. As you walk in you see a giant tower situated in a large grass field. The field is covered in groups of teens running and walking around. One of them runs up to you and says “Elijah Phral?”
