What type of shops?
And what's the significance of viking-style houses? Or would I not know what situation these houses would be used in?

I thought there was a special meaning to how houses are built, since they're usually built to fit the environment. Was hoping I could learn more about the area from them. ;p

The tavern is very dragon-themed, with the walls having shiny green scale-like stones merged with the normal stone. There's a fireplace in the shape of a dragon's head, the chimney being its body.

 

Is it quite full? Or empty?
And is anyone at the counter? >.>

That's not what it is. It's just the best icon I found.
The gate creaks open to reveal a large antechamber with pillars and arches supporting the roof. Between the pillars are benches. At the far end of the room is a large stone spiral staircase leading up through the roof, but also down. The hall is lit up by large bonfires in ornate fountain-like constructions. The floor is a mix of stones and minerals that looks like rippling water, and the ceiling looks like a blue cloudless sky.
