Thorston nods and hands her the ceremonial dagger.

 

I channel my inner ninja powers, and pull out my dagger and fly all over the place.

 

Fucking finally.
No hard feelings.

 

Before that can happen, you hear a now clearly familiar voice.
"General Ward."
The man in front of you clearly didn't cast it, so Leren's still somewhere out there..
As for your attacks, they don't matter, as the ward is much brighter than yours and your hold doesn't even take effect.
The flame strike shatters it, but the (lack of) damage is done. He lunges at you with two knives, and one crashes into your jaw, a few inches below your left eye.
"Damn.. Lizard!"

If it helps, you can see behind you some kind of twisted amalgamation sort of blurring its way into your 'vision'.
whateer it is, it's clearly alive/human, but is... different, somehow.
Magic is coursing through its body, less as a power-up and more to keep it alive.
Whatever this thing is, it's holding on to life by a thread, and would probably die on the spot if it wasn't for the insane amounts of ambient magic it was drawing in just to sustain itself.

She just looks at you, half annoyed.
"Are ya serious!?"

About 10 seconds later, one of the men has you pinned to a wall. Maybe a hobbit caster shouldn't try to fight someone head on.

 

I'll try to flame strike the knife guy again and if he dies I'll recast ward and say "Fuck off Leren. Why can't you just stay dead?" I'll try to shoot at where the voice came from

 

Ooo.
What if I sucked in the magic faster so it dies? >.>

It tears a hole through the finally (slowly) dispersing smoke.
Sadly, all this does is tell him where you are.
Sadly (for him), his attack misses wildly, and you realize he's 10 feet to the left of where you though he was.

A magic circle sounds absolutely horrifying.
Not letting the GM know what you're doing in an open ended rp usually ends spectacularly.
well I mean don't touch the worldbuilding too much but other than that

"Look, we already know where the vaults are. The real question is who are you?"

And I left it open ended because Ling just wants to draw a magic circle (unspecific). So have it do whatever you want. >.<
But it's just easier to say this magic circle failed, just not the same way the last one did. :/

Well I had some ideas for magic circles, since Eradius [SPOILERS].

 

Welp. Uhhhhh... can I toss magic circles under the really bad forgotten magics section? xd
And I guess ai'll stop mentioning them. ;p;

The magic keeping him standing is ocne again interrupted, and Leren is once again in unspeakable agony.
You can actually see him again, too, as the smoke is mostly cleared. The bandages have ripped, the mask is gone, and under that....
Imagine the armored titan, except the plates are charred skin, and the exposed muscle/bone underneath is... yeah.
It's.. not good. His body isn't moving, but in his eyes you can see unbearable pain. He won't last long, at this rate.

The bandaged lady speaks up this time.
"Eh? Yer really just sayin' it? Well... necromancy's technically, illegal... but I know who yer talkin' about. Been creepin' me out all night. Ye get to go free for the info. Unhand 'im, boys."
She flourishes, hindered somewhat by some kind of injury on her gut, and leaves back into the ballroom. Her 2... minions? Follow with her.
