Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Sgavrinn finds many forest guardians in the gardens, though unfortunately none of them are Artemis. They smile at him as he passes, however.

 

He tries reaching out to her telepathically, though his abilities seem marginally weaker than normal.

 

Sgavrinn can feel a connection form, though Artemis doesn't seem capable of responding.

 

"A-artemis? Where'd you go...?" He asks before faceplanting as one of his legs buckle.

 

Artemis doesn't respond, though Sgavrinn is able to track where she is with the connection; somewhere inside the Shadow Palace.

 

"That's a good reason."

 

Sgavrinn tries to get there without his metal wing ripping up the gardens.

"I mean, people usually see this as a place to reinvent themselves. Why be a king where nobody wants or needs one?"

 

"Or where nobody even knows you were a king to begin with."

 

The forest guardians seem to do a well enough job of maintaining the gardens to prevent such an issue arising. One Sgavrinn is inside the palace, he's able to tell Artemis is in the game room.

 

Sgavrinn tries to get there without use of an elevator, though he seems to have forgotten most of the palace layout.

"That too. Besides, saying you're a king with no kingdom is kinda... embarrassing, really."

 

"Haha, yeah it is."

 

Somehow, Sgavrinn manages to find the game room despite this, arriving at a familiar, albeit closed, door.

 

He bumps his snout into the door a few times.

"Anyhow... if that ever changes, I'll let you know. But, as far as I'm concerned, no royalty down here."

 

The door opens, not entirely shut. Sgavrinn finds Artemis asleep on the main sofa, what looks like a white football in her hands. Upon closer inspection however, it's revealed to actually be a giant puffball; a bite mark in it.

 

"No royalty, gotcha."

"Say, are there any strict laws or rules that I'm supposed to follow here?"

 

"Don't startle anyone too badly, don't kill anyone, and try not to get into any fights. Beyond that, it depends on the city. This one allows working for something instead of needing to pay for it, which I never quite understood."

Sgavrinn sniffs at the puffball before laying his head next to Artemis.

 

The puffball has a strong mushroom scent, spores visible inside the bite mark. Artemis doesn't seem to be disturbed Sgavrinn's presence, sleeping peacefully.

 

Sgavrinn opts to curl up and doze off with Artemis, though his metal wing knocks over anything nearby as he does so.

 

"Eeew.. I might have broken the first rule already."

 

Luckily, there doesn't seem to be a lot to knock over, and Artemis doesn't wake up.
