Will there be a map download with plugin and command block data so we can still play wynncraft? I really hope so

It uses plugins, so I don't know if just a map download will suffice. Though maybe the server could get a new owner?

If it shuts down, I'm not really sure what would happen. If the owners left they could be replaced, but if we shut down due to money, then I don't know if Wynncraft would come back.

Maybe they'd put the map up for download so people can explore everything, who knows. Or if Wynn is in danger of shutting down due to money, then maybe they would get rid of stuff like War Servers and stuff? (I don't know how those even work). But if the server is closing for good, there's no easy way to recreate the experience single player, or even get the same feeling with a small group of people and no one else. A lot of Wynn's charm for some people comes from community stuff like trading and guilds.

Maybe somehow some new MMORPG server could rise from the ashes if Wynn closes, possibly made by former CT members or or mods? All of this is uncertain and I wouldn't dwell on it, considering that Wynncraft seems to be doing pretty well right now. At the same time though, nothing lasts forever, sadly.

I think they might put the map up for download IF this happens. But I doubt anyone will be able to actually play it properly, since the main appeal of Wynn is playing with other people, joining guilds, trading etc.

But it seems they’re doing really well right now. It’s one of very few servers that I know of which is actually growing, not dying as of right now. Many other servers are clearly losing players and trying to milk as much money as possible, firing staff, etc. Only Wynn and a few others that I know of are increasing player capacity, having more servers open at once, not trying to milk money from the players, etc.

I don't see any reason why Wynn would be ending within the foreseeable future. Only case I can think of would be an update to minecraft's EULA that prehibits all transactions for servers, or end of the world. Same thing, really.

I can't say for certain what'd happen, but the chances for a public release do seem close to 0%

For the custom plugins, they could be sold in case of desperation for money. However, from what I've heard, the original code's a pure mess, so I doubt too many would be interested in buying it for their own projects. Do note though, that we aren't Zentrela, and probably don't want 20 mini-Wynn's merely imitating to be us.

And as for the map, it won't be released in any way. I'm sure of it. The map isn't just a build, but a shell full of game assets. Assets, which aren't intended for outsiders to see, nor have any function without plugins; Multiple hundreds of offmap areas which cover over half of the game, and thousands of animation frames and stage copies for animations and quests. Not to mention the risk of releasing the CT's personal belongings within the map file, that are in no way a part of the game, and definitely shouldn't be handed out to anyone. I also doubt that handing out 5 years of passionate volunteer work would make it's creators too happy.

If Wynn died, it'd be because of a reason that causes the game to produce less money than what it uses to run with. In this case the 'new owner' would most likely be a person that cares less about the game's development, and more about turning it into a cash grabber. As expected, this wouldn't bode well for the game nor the CT. In addition to this, seeing the passion towards the game from people such as Salted, I highly doubt it's ownership will be transferred to someone else willingly.

We ain't DungeonRealms either, buddyboo. Wynn's present owners are essentially irreplaceable, and are the main source of idealization for new game features, and planning where the game is headed. Don't believe me? Just look at how badly most movies and series flopped after swapping either directors or writers.

And with Minecraft being the base, the game can essentially be never-ending. And player base will keep steady or increase. Its a game that parents will teach their kids and pass on and on. Wynn has a long and healthy life ahead of it. At least I sure hope so!

I guess I should’ve meant ‘dying more slowly’.

Look at other servers - Lets take cosmicpvp as an example.
They used to have 16ish different planets for people to play factions on. Now they have 7 or so and 2 are being removed within a month. Wynn’s business model of being an MMORPG is far more sustainable, because while factions servers and minigame servers might have infinite replayability, it gets stale fairly quickly. Wynn has tons of content and has more being added all the time, giving people a different experience depending on how they want to play the game. Wynn will probably last way longer.

if 1.18 is supposed to add 2.5k hours of gameplay its gonna make the server immensely more active

The only thing that got cancelled in the update was Road to Dern content, which will come in the future according to what I've heard. 1.18 is still coming though, it's just that RtD was pushed aside to add more important stuff. Either way, an update will definitely bring people back, and given what the admins have said they may end up staying more than a few days for this one.

Because Gavel was teased and in the works for over a year and a half, so naturally both retired and new players would come on to see Gavel. The difference between now and Gavel is that it was a big game changer for Wynn changing almost everything about the game from items, to map design to quest design. The only reason Wynn's playerbase has gone down is that nothing big or significant has been teased or released. While Corkus was a pretty big update, it didn't bring anything game changing to the game like Gavel did other than a new island which can be fully explored within 30 minutes of playtime not to mention it didn't give us anything to waste our time on. Same goes for the D&D update.

    Also school.
