SPOILER Wynncraft Lore Thread

Spoiler: DISCLAIMER

This thread is mostly for fun but I will try my best to only use facts. HOWEVER some of the events are NOT 100% confirmed to be true or/and theories by me and others. I will not provide the evidence for all theories nor will I point them out as to keep the flow of the story. However do know I have studied the lore a lot and want to provide honest but compelling stories that are very much possible within the lore. If you have evidence that proves one of my points wrong please share them with me and I WILL rewrite or remove that part.

One of the two great fortresses in Wynn. It has been able to withstand 1000 years of undead attacks.

Spoiler: Troms

The second great stone fortress in Wynn. It took a large hit in 881 AP but rebuilt and is now almost inpenetrable.

Spoiler: Detlas

Once a small farming village destroyed by Bak’al but rebuilt as a large trading hub where emeralds are exchanged for goods.

Spoiler: Almuj

Another city relying heavily on trade. In fact the trading has made it very rich. It is the largest city in Wynn and the wealthiest. There are almost no undead there because of the harsh climate.

Spoiler: Nesaak

Once a small village similar to old Detlas but was frozen by Theorick to protect the Wynn province. It now focuses mostly on fishing rather than farming because of the year round snow.

Spoiler: Maltic

The first village built by the Testificates. Close to Ragni and produces a lot of food because of the farms it has in the Ragni Plains.

A small village very close to the Portal. Despite that it has managed to survive. A person by the name of Garoth who studied the corruption and became corrupted himself used to live there many years ago.

Spoiler: Unknown Date (Before 0 AP & Ancient Civilizations)

Something’s changing. The embodiment of evil is growing restless. It wants to break free of the shackles its bound by. It wants to expand. So it does. Leaving it’s dark realm it finds a powerful ancient civilization. They are no match for the mighty darkness so they flee, barely. The immense force of the magical crystals shield them long enough to make it to the Wynn Province.
However the magic they used to escape should never have been used. It corrupts them. Their knowledge of magic is far beyond what any human could imagine. So they hide the crystals. Where no one will find them.

Spoiler: Unknown Date (Before 0 AP)

The light beast Orpion is infected with a Sucoro parasite and locked away creating an imbalance in the light and dark.

Spoiler: 0 AP

The great cataclysms shake the world. The Ahms region shatters and Sucoro parasites from Orphion make their way to Gavel, infecting the land and starting the decay. The Nether Portal opens.
Humans were always greedy so when they found the shiny green gems they could not stop themselves from digging them all up. They dug and dug and found more and more of those precious gemstones until one day they found it. A portal to another world. The moneyhungry miners go into the portal as human but come back as monsters. Disfigured by the corruption and with a need to kill. They’re not alone either. They released the greatest threat to face Wynn ever, the army of the undead.

Spoiler: Unknown Date (Before 0 AP)

The Wynn province is not the united stone empire we know today. Two flourishing civilizations exist in two different habitats. However they have something in common. The power that should never be used is found and exploited. The two emperors can’t resist it. With the help of the crystals they build two great empires the likes of which have never been seen, or will be.
But what created them dooms them. Thousands of years later all that’s left is ruins covered by sand and trees. Forgotten by all but a few.

Spoiler: 98 AP

The first miner to enter the portal now known as Bak’al has led his army for 98 years. Ravaging the proud stone empire. The plains of Wynn are no longer safe as undead roam the lands. Killing anyone they can.
In 98 AP they attack Detlas, a small farming town in the middle of the province. Many flee to the great fortresses Ragni or Troms. Most of the population now lives there, mostly protected from the corrupted army outside the cities.
This continues for hundreds of years. Slowly weakening the province. The young of Wynn do not know how to read or write, they know how to kill and fight.

Spoiler: Unknown Date (After 0 AP) - Unknown Date (Before 589 AP)

Most humans did not know magic however there were a few who did. They used it to protect what they could from the undead but they weren’t organized. Until one especially gifted man called Marius Twain decided to adopt gifted orphans. He trained them to fight.
Most of his adopted children had gifts not suited for war however four of them did. Theorick, Rickeo, Dwendle and Mael. Together they barely saved the Wynn Province from total destruction but not ruin. They were hailed as heros by the people but they did not get along very well.
Theorick frustrated with Maels lack of help killing the endless hordes ran away to the nearest village, Nesaak. Another small village similar to Detlas.
The other siblings split up. No longer united their power dwindled.

Spoiler: 589 AP

Theorick still protecting Nesaak from the corrupted with his ice powers, ice has a curious effect of repelling corruption, decides he can’t just sit there and watch more people die every day. He’s going to do something about it. He’s going to go into the portal and cut off the roots of corruption. The last person that went into the portal was Bak’al.
He tries but falls, coming out corrupted. His powers so powerful that corrupted he could destroy the entire Wynn Province by himself. With his last willpower he freezes Nesaak and locks himself up to weaken himself.

Spoiler: Unknown Date (After 589 AP) - 882 AP

Bak’al continues his pumelling of the province. It’s much easier now that three of the Twains are dead. Two by the corruption and one slain by Bak’al himself. Ragni will not be able to withstand this forever. Almost everything beyond the Nivla Forest lies in ruin.

Spoiler: 854 AP

Ragni is ravaged by a massive horde led by Bak’al. The citizens including a mysterious pregnant women hide in the sewers. The woman gives birth to a boy but dies in childbirth. A poor woman named Momo adopts him and names him Robert.

Spoiler: 866 AP - 886 AP

When Robert was only twelve years of age another horde hit the city. Killing his mother Momo. She gave him a pair of pitch black daggers and a map. The map led him to trainers who would train him for 20 years until the year 886 AP.

Spoiler: 881 AP

The proud city of Troms had been hit hard despite its favorable location and well trained army. It was here Robert spent time with people, not just with his masters. Having been bullied and left out as a child for his odd skin colour this was very important to him. It is also here he was first called Bob and adopted the name.

Spoiler: 882 AP

Ragni watchmen spot massive amounts of undead crossing the river to Nivla Forest. But there’s something different. They’re organized.

Spoiler: 883 AP

After much fighting the horde is advancing. The humans have taken advantage of the trees by using them as cover while decimating corrupteds however this has changed. The undead lit the forest on fire and its quickly spreading, forcing the humans to retreat.

Spoiler: 884 AP

The forest has almost been entirely lost. Most of the trees are now ash on the ground and bodies cover the barren battlefield. The humans are desperately trying to save the last piece of forest. One watchman sees something many could have guessed but didn’t dare say. Bak’al.

Spoiler: 886 AP

Nivla Forest has been breached. Now it’s just flat plains all the way to Ragni. With no Twains to save them this is the end of the great Ragni. Bak’al and his army marches forward killing anyone in their way but they are stopped.
The fully trained Robert stands in the way. The only person in the entire Wynn Province capable of magic rivaling Bak’al himself. Bak’al not expecting this flees and Robert is hailed as the savior of Ragni and the Wynn Province.

Spoiler: 900 AP

A boat containing Testificates searching for a cure for the decay crash in Wynn and establish a city on the coast called Maltic. An alliance is formed between the kings of Ragni and Troms and the Testificates. The new arrivals have much more advanced weaponry and magic than the humans and sell it for the emeralds they love.
This trade grows stronger and is instrumental to the continued defence of the Wynn Province. Detlas is rebuilt as a trading city. Now with thick stone walls to keep the undead out with the help of the Testificates.

Spoiler: 926 AP

Bob dissapears. It is rumoured by the people he went to fight some powerful beast but died. The real story does not exist in any history books. Bob heard about the dark beast called The Eye who ravaged Dern so many years ago and wants to stop it from doing the same to the Wynn Province. One day he will die and then there will be no one left to protect Wynn. He decides he needs to give the province a chance by weakening the beast. Killing it would be near impossible.
He collects shards of the crystals hidden for thousands of years and sails to Gateway Island which houses a portal to the home of The Eye itself, The Realm of Shadow. He fights it but cannot win and seals it using the crystals and his own lifeforce.
However the people cannot know the truth. Like how the ancient Dern race had to hide it Bob did too. So he told no one except Nilrem who built a fake tomb and spread lies about the cause of Bobs death.
Since this the hordes have been easier to deal with and much of the province has been able to rebuild with the help of the Testificates.

Spoiler: 1000 AP

A caravan carrying fresh recruits from Fruma breaks down right before the border to Wynn. All of the soldiers except one are awake and go straight to Ragni. The last one falls behind the others but make it nonetheless.

I felt like doing some writing so I did this lol. It’s not finished yet as you can see so please suggest what I should do next and please please please tell me if I’m wrong about something. And yes I know some of it is theory and not 100% proven.

I hope they get rid of the whole “light vs. darkness” aspect of the lore. It’s so unoriginal, played out, and makes absolutely no sense. It’s basically like the premise of Kingdom Hearts except without any Disney or anime characters.

If I recall correctly, it doesn't say anywhere that Bob used the Crystals to seal away the beast.

I'm fully aware that that's what he used to seal it away, however I'm pointing out that they said Bob used the Crystals as well as his life force to seal the beast away, and nowhere in the game does it even hint at Bob using the Crystals to seal away said beast.

In this thread on one of the signs it’s heavily implied the ancients used the crystals to flee from The Eye. It also says they have more magical knowledge than humans. Reasonably Bob isn’t that much more powerful than all of the ancients which means he had to use the crystals to succeed.

If anything I would call that leaps of logic, not logic itself. The only linkage is that Bob went to Dern, ancients fled from Dern using crystals, therefore Bob used crystals because they are Dern and so is he.

I get this thread is meant to explain the lore, but please make it clear when you are giving a theory, and not passing it off as fact. You and others might think your theory makes perfect sense, but there are others (like me) who will disagree completely with what’s being said. Passing off theory as fact causes confusion with understanding the lore, so it’s much better if you just repeat what the game has explained and not add your own embellishments, or at the very least make it clear when you are giving your own theory on how an event in the lore played out.

On a side note, I do appreciate your work to make one consolidated thread on the lore of the game, so keep at it.
