IKR. It's firmly a mediocre item now. IMO it's better than the old gambler by far, but that makes it a really weird item. I think it'll be more in line with items of its level finally, but there was something to be said about the old gambler's dramatic changes in use cases depending on the stats. That was the heart of the item, and now it is just going to be a well-rounded free mana steal + LS item that most lvl 80+ players should just equip for easy supporting stats. I completely agree with their statements for the changes AND against the changes since it removed the nullifying effect. I think it could be done effectively given the -% was higher, meaning builds would also need another +% item like third eye, libra, neutrino, prism, planet healer, gemini, the LI fusion items, FF merchant items, or shimmersight to counter the -%. I suggest -143 (-100% to -186%) or -163 (-114% to -212%) as base ele def % for the old gambler's concept.
EDIT/More Explanation: That would mean players can't just equip the item and have positive defs if they get a good roll, they've also gotta bring another +% item to the table and finish countering the -%s. Just a thought. The rest of the item (HP bonus and base elemental defenses) I haven't looked much at yet. The -% has been the primary point of contention for most people. This also firmly blocks people from using 2xGambler, which did happen on occasion.

 

when I said "add life steal", i don't mean that they have to add an insane amount of it. I mean, if you add like 200+ life steal it would be a bootleg apoc, but what if it has just 80? Also the worst thing about flameshot is not having powder slots. You can do courage with apoc, but you cant using flameshot.

 

Hence "worse".

if you added powder slots on flameshot + 80 lifesteal, then apoc would be practically useless

80 lifesteal + drain is enough to keep you alive in wars with 100+ def/cybel/li, and the base damage of flameshot is already higher than apoc. stack courage onto that and you would get a stupidly powerful weapon

if you reason that you can just lower flameshot's damage, then boom, you get ignition.

Can we please give Gale's Force a buff? I get air is the weak element but why does strati get to do so much more damage than Gale along with having better WS, and don't give me "It's a mythic", at least other mythic weapons have comparable counterparts, gale's damage is so insignificant it's not even a comparison.

Let's see, baseline damage, 30% speed, 10 agility, 3 powder slots when it's at very fast attack speed, 20% air damage... I'm sorry, what was the problem? Gale's Force is perfectly fine. You're just spoiled on Mythic-level power.

 

gale's is fine like u say strati does definitely get much better damage but u know it also has 120 req and big fat -hp

If air is the weak element why does strati do so much damage while gale gets gimped. With the Spring nerf maybe it's time to start talking about Strati too, especially with all the broken air gear that's coming out.

 

Remember that the sticking point of spring is spamming low cost spells with enough Regen to essentially never stop casting. That means you're going to do more DPS than Strati, regardless of single-hit damage. Plus, spring can reach just as high single hit damage as Strati with the same or better Mana AND 140+ Intel. That's part of that bow. The reason for using Strati is to get massive AGI and Dodge 75% of attacks, plain and simple. One is for survivability, the other is for higher sustained damage and spell casting. Gale is only gimped in terms of raw damage because it's not a mythic. In comparison of damage: Spring>Strati>Gale makes sense from archetype and ratiry standpoint.

 

air is not weak as in low damage, air has average damage, on par with fire, among the elements, air is weak in terms of survivability. Which is why the "broken air items" are to fix the issue where previously fire got enough damage-focused items but air did not.

 

Ok explains this. Now I get that mediocre is also used for something being just adequate, but mediocre is more often associated with being bad. Also if air is average, what's below air, water? A lot of water builds pump out spells so fast that they deal more damage than air builds.

 

No, Fire. Fire is literally the most defensive stat. Compare any fire bow to an equal level and rarity air bow. It'll do less damage but have more defensive stats like Life Steal, HPR, or Ele defense %
