Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Yes, if I try." Eve says.

 

"We need sleep to live. Spending a few hours per day to live longer is fine for me."

 

"Great, do a lot of trying because we're down to nanobots smaller than that."

"Don't need to live if you're dead." She snickers.

 

"Got that right." He laughs

 

Eve seems unmoved.

 

“I mean now, there’s a few in front of you.”

 

Eve's pupils change in size as her vision zooms in, continuing to zoom until her eyes are powerful microscopes.

 

Fully zoomed in, Eve can see specks flying about but no details.

 

Eve observes the specs, curious.

 

They seem to be just milling about in front of her before they spell out a series of letters:
“Test”

“I do wonder if home changed, though. I haven’t seen it in quite a while.”

 

Eve doesn't react, though records the message.

 

"It's in ruins. There do still live people there, but they are most likely scavengers."

 

"Seriously? Damnit... please tell me you weren't tricked into being the one to wreck it."

"We're experimenting with using metananobots to make artificial elements. We've gotten from 1 to 112, but we sort of stopped there after the siege on Idhaenna's palace."

 

"Why have you not resumed?" Eve asks.

 

"Comms were taken out while the palace was under siege, so most of the galaxy lost contact with most of their connections. We're working on that so it doesn't happen again, because it's... a serious blow to our reputation for one, but a massive cost as well."

 

"Why did it happen in the first place?" Eve inquires.

 

"Because the Hive Master didn't send his full force down on Idhaenna's palace. I suppose that made things easier on your queen who aided them greatly, but we couldn't reach out to the palace to have her divert her forces afterwards. Fortunately, he sorely overexerted himself, and we were able to use the wormholes they tried to escape through to restore some signal and clean up the stragglers."

 

"I don't understand how that damaged your means of communication." Eve says.

 

"If they weren't attacking the palace, they were dismantling means of communication."

 

"I see." Eve says.
