Looks pretty good. I haven’t experimented with block roofs yet.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier. I havven't been on the forums for a couple days.
Thanks! Tbh, if there was one thing I would change, it would be the roof. It doesn't really fit the Tudor theme. I'd probably swap it out for gravel/light grey concrete powder to try to replicate shingles, and straighten it up a little.
All things take time. I wasn't that good a year ago, let alone 5 years ago when I first started playing. I'm sure I will continue to improve as well. I find that it isn't a jump from a 'bad' to a 'good' build, it the small things. I chose the darker, warmer colour palette so that it isn't to harsh to look at, and looks like a cozy home. I put a tudor type hedge garden around it so that it can blend into it's environment. I made the roof sag because it was made out of hay and dirt, which doesn't support it that well. I got stuck on what to do with the walls after I filled them with acacia logs, so I looked up reference images of tudor houses and looked for something that would fit in. I noticed that the windows stuck out, which helps to break up the square shape. I noticed that they often had dark brown coloured stuff around the bottom, so I replicated that on the other walls. I added lilacs and trees to the hedges because the garden was so flat.

Ok. I feel like I've just gone ahead and explained 90% of my build. My point is, it isn't a massive jump to good building, just a lot of small decisions that add to it. Keep building, and you'll improve on yourself. I still am improving, it just takes time.

    1. Try and make roofs look less flat and triangular. Although this is how most actual houses have their roofs, it isn't as aesthetically pleasing in Minecraft.

    2. Add more depth. You can achieve this by adding more layers to your walls, which is done by placing each wall block in one, so that the wooden frame sits outside of it. You can then detail the inside of this wall and then the frame itself.

    3. Bigger. Bigger means more blocks, which means you can add more detail.

    4. Make sure glass panes are always surrounded by other blocks that are the same type. Otherwise it looks skewed, and the other blocks around it give it a sense of a frame.

    Hope I helped! :D

Examples of how I do roof and wall detail:

Thanks! I wanted to try to keep it smaller scale, but I’ll try it out.
