"Come on, what's the worst that could happen - oh shit, not that way then. I don't think she noticed. Library'd be near the King's bedroom would it? Because if not we should probably be leaving."

You hear Elimut's voice, stern and commanding. "To the table, Rinea."

Right next to it.

Sensing your confusion, the Villager points to the crowd in the cave. - "Amongst that crowd are President Torl, two of our agents and the most valuable treasure in these Heights. We've been planning this for months. There was a minor setback - this was supposed to happen in Manifis, but that's why we always have a backup plan."

"An excellent point. Do you know where Deepwater went then - wait, tell you what," -He points to a door in the corridor, "you go in and speak to her, ask where the library is and come back here?"

You step forward almost at the table. Heads stare from all directions, expectant.

 

"And you can't do it why?"

 

”This very important. Why new here?”

A moment of suprise before I step back as well to match.

 

Shake my head and sigh, but don't move anymore.

 

You look over the surface of the gem. It's very smooth, despite how far it's come there isn't a single scratch on it. As your hand gets closer to the 'pupil' where the stone is pure black, it gets almost unbearably hot, even for a Dogun (the dwarves were wearing some sort of gloves). You run your hand over it, try to hit it, scratch it, prod it with your wand, but nothing happens. There's a loud roar from the mouth of the cave, and you see Ozoth standing there bending down to see in, her enormous body and wings blocking nearly all the light from outside.
"Give me the Eye. Or I will personally make sure none of you will get in my way again."
The crowd seem even more frantic, falling over each other to get to the bottom. They're still coming past, and the who tripped over you narrowly avoids being trampled.

"Look, there's supposed to be a fucking death penalty if I set foot in the Palace again. I don't think Elimut would be so lenient a second time. So, are you going?"

"You're here because we want you here. You don't need to know any more - I'm sorry, but we try to spread knowledge between our members so if one of us is captured they don't know enough to disrupt us."

You hear the elf on Togak's left speak, "They're obviously so reluctant because they're guilty. What else should we expect? They betray the Embassy, now they betray the Coalition. Treason is all a wood elf knows."
Togak turns to her calmly.
"Patience, Kaeli. We shall not jump to conclusions."
Elimut orders you sternly, "On the table. You are accused of nothing - yet."

He points you through the door. It's a large room but it looks very bare - empty bookshelves line one of the walls, the bed is empty apart from the mattress and several chairs are piled in a corner. An elven woman stands by the bed in a simple white dress, solemnly emptying a wardrobe of lavish clothes into a wicker basket. She doesn't notice you enter, too focused on her work.
