I do admit you were overzealous in that department. However, there's still the problem of the very potent betrayal. A completely unwarranted one, too, as all they did was figure out how insanely evil you still are.

The options here are to:
A): Destroy the combat system and go back to the rp'd wounds
B): Completely rework the system from the ground up
C): Dice. Or at least a way to let things fail
D): Nerf a bunch of spells in another way, so they're limited in situation.

A & B would probably require a vote shift on the poll at the top of the page, and C would move this a bit too close to D&D for comfort (I mean unless that's a good thing for you guys)
So rn I'm leaning towards D, and ironically will only be able to work on it full force when the school year starts.

Wouldn't the "almost one shot" thing be something you want on your side?

The charm isn't really powerful enough to get him on my side only so he doesn't try to kill me but we doesn't have to help me.

Another 10 minutes and you're back. It's hard to notice, but the party seems quieter than before, and people are moving less. It's like some... aura of deceit. Mistrust, maybe.
Kale is drinking something while talking with some guests, and immediately moves towards you once you return.
"Good, good. Here's some of the materials you wanted."

As he says that, the target clinks his glass.

I'm assuming you're just sitting crisscrossed a foot or so above the ground, intentionally ignoring the homocide in front of you.
Honestly at this point, you would have done with Azura's character, if said character wasn't essentially dead.
