It runs through the grooves and down along the "pole". Also, the wavy grooves go down into the space between as well.
Nothing else happens.

As you pour the water onto the tip of the pyramid, it runs out into each of the grooves and down into the dark.
A few seconds later, the water comes UP from the dark, through the grooves that lead to the wavy grooves and out into them.
The "pole" begins to rise out of the hole, slowly, and you see how the grooves split even more. Eventually the pole's bottom is above the sand level, the pole levitating, water flowing down into the dark.
The pole slams down into the hole and the water is flung up into the air, hovering. A beam of golden light shoots out from the tip of the pyramid and into the sky, accompanied by a shockwave that rocks the boat and trees.
As you watch, the fog dissipates.
