Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“Of course. He’s not in right now, but I can show you where he’ll reappear.”

His eyes narrow and his tail starts wagging, tongue flopping out happily.

Fable taps it with her foot, unwilling to touch the door with her hands for... obvious reasons.

 

There’s a bit of silence.
“Wanna go for a walk?”

 

His tail wags wider, standing up.

 

“Aren’t you a guard dog? How many times do you get walked...?”
He mumbles to himself, creating a long leash with a harness of the end, getting out of his chair and bending down to put the harness on Ted.

 

"Reappear?"

 

“People waking up and falling asleep sort of just... pop into existence, or fade out. It’s jarring.”

Ted keeps still for the harness, hold the obvious excitement the tail is displaying.

 

Voidfiller smiles as he rises, turning into a paunched man in casual clothing, a straw hat, and spectacles. He holds the long leash loosely, giving Ted room to run.
“Now, ya need ta remember that you can’t attack anyone, understand?”

 

"What about you? You're not stuck here, right?"

 

The door swings open slowly, revealing a large and empty hallway.

 

Ted runs up to the man, sniffing him before running off in the opposite direction of the house, jerking on the leash.

“Here, no. I can’t go back to the land of the living, though.”

Fable steps out, looking for a living room.

 

The downstairs living room is empty. Pictures of family members hang on the pale walls, dark green sofas and chairs looking soft and well used. A coffee table rests in the centre of the room, a glass top to it showing the light yellow carpet below. Fable can hear the sound of a kettle coming from the kitchen just nearby.

 

She peeks into the kitchen.

 

A female earth guardian near to the age of the homeowner's seems to be making a cup of tea, noticing Fable's presence.

"Oh, hello there. You must be our guest." The earth guardian says, smiling kindly.

 

“Whoo-kay.”
The man jogs after Ted, Not really catching up to him at all.
“I figured we could get a better scenery than a vast expanse of blue.”
Voidfiller opens a portal near Ted, seemingly leading into a large, old, wooden house with door that leads outside wide open.

 

Fable nods.
"I'm sorry for waking everyone last night." She says quietly.

Ted takes the jogging as a cue to go faster, the leash getting yanked out of your hand as he runs through the portal.

 

"Oh that? Don't worry, you were doing it for a good cause." The earth guardian says happily.

 

Voidfiller's hand extends to catch up to the leash, grabbing it again and twisting it around his arm. It shortens a bit because of this, but the harness on Ted makes it so that he isn't hurt by the abrupt shortening.
Voidfiler heads through the portal as well, opening the doors more so Ted gets the idea to walk outside.

 

"Even still, I didn't know I'd wake... well, everyone." She sighs. "The last tremor I caused to call for help only brought three people over. I didn't know everyone... you know..."

Voidfiller feels like his arm's getting partway ripped off, Ted whining once before getting the hint to slow down.

 

"Don't worry about it, we're used to earthquakes here." The earth guardian says.

 

"Do they always wake everyone up?" Fable asks, curiosity overtaking guilt.
