How big is Gavel, Actually? Well, in the gavel hype thread “Just around the corner…” by Grian, he mentions that the province is 2000 blocks by 4000 blocks. The official minecraft measurement for 1 block is 1 meter by 1 meter by 1 meter so 1 meter cubed per block. This means Gavel is about 2000 meters by 4000 meters or 2 kilometers by 4 kilometers or 8 KM Squared, which is actually larger than the country of Gibraltar which is 6.5 KM squared. This is the Iberico peninsula, which is the peninsula that houses Spain and Portugal, and YOU GUESSED IT Gibraltar. Can ya see it? Lemme zoom in. This is the entire country of GibraltarOn the smallest scale I can view the whole country of Gibraltar, It’s so tiny I can view (I kid you not) A Fucking gas station. Given, Gavel is larger than Gibraltar by 1.5 Square KM. IT’S STILL GODDAMN TINY. However, This got me thinking, What is the population of Gavel? It’s estimated that the population of Medieval England in 1086 was 3.5 million. Since England is 130,280 km², that means the population density is about 27 people per KM squared. I’ll use Medieval england as an example for applying population density. Since we have 8 KM Squared, if we apply it, that means Gavel has…….. 216 people. !?!?!??!?!?! If there are only 216 people, I feel like I've probably helped 80% of them out during some quest. Realistically, I should get some provincial award for that.

Actually, there are 50 quests when gavel initially released sooo you've helped 50/216 people in gavel

 

However some quests involve multiple NPCs, all of which you help. You likely at least meet all the existing citizens of Gavel.

No this can’t be right. Gavel’s population is far smaller. In England, most of the terrain was habitable. In Gavel, most of the area is dead/decayed places filled with evil monsters. Where do all these people live, anyways?

 

probably like 100 of em live in cinfras, 75 in llevigar, 10 in olux, 25 in ahmsord, 2 in thesead, 10 in thanos, 3 in rodoroc/maex/dogovi.

 

Keep in mind the lack of houses there are too.

You forgot to calculate for the Y Axis. The Canyon of the lost and the skylands both have a lot of vertically, so realistically it's probably more like 225 people

here’s my rough population estimate:

about 60 people live in llevigar, but including the uni students and the prisoners i’d put it at about 90

about 10 households in llevigar plains, assume all households have 4 people, makes 40 people

olux would have about 30+ people

gelibord would be 20-30 people (assume 30)

about 6 houses in prelight forest, but all are solitary so 6 only

the villager barracks has about 15 people

efilim would have around 20-25 villagers and 10-15 elves so 40 in total (max)

lexdale has about 15-20 people at the most

cinfras has about 30 houses, 30x4=120. add the people in levtus and the guild recruits that gives about 160.

let’s put aldorei at about 100 people

about 20 houses in Cinfras county, but say 10 are unpopulated, and the rest are solitary hermits.

Thanos has like 50-60 dwarves

theseed has very little people, 35 people at the most.

eltom has like 20-30 people

there are about 15 houses in cotl but all of them are hermits so it’s just 15 people

rod a rock has about 70 dwarves

i’ll put maex at about 30-40 people (never been there before)

jofash has like 15-20 people

kandon has about 30 people

Ahmsord has like 40 people

so Gavel has about 900 people

 

And i've killed most of them for lifesteal

Most have died of natural causes

Well, the thing is that Wynncraft takes place in a magical world, where maybe the quality of life might be better than real medieval times, they could live in a world where all natural water is pure, disease isn't that common, they don't have many wars, and healing magic is used a lot, and most of the population isn't human, so they might have different lifespans, making them live longer, or be more healthy than humans of our world. BTW there's probably a bunch of Arcane Skeletons crawling around Lexdale, soooo there might have been a few more people before part of the forest sudden became the Dark Forest.

Wynn has been fighting a war against hellish beasts for over a thousand years now, there are zombies, robots, ogres, trolls, and other hostile creatures roaming almost every corner of the world, the Decay has caused famine and unrest across Gavel, a plague killed thousands in Gavel 450 years ago, and an entire humanoid species has been almost wiped out in a war against the dwarves. How could you have missed that?
