Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"You could try that." Katie says, thinking.

 

“Well, let’s see what a gentle bump does.” Fable says, lightly punching the ground... or something. She taps it with her fist, and it shakes the ground below Katie.

After the guard is definitely dead, beyond the point of recognition, and then turned to a pulp; Ted cowers and the two draconians have since dealt with the other guard and moved on.

 

Katie's balance is thrown off a little. A short while later, a trio of boulders begin rolling toward Fable and Katie, as well as a line of deep blue water running up to the pair from the cliffs.

The boulders explode into thee earth guardians, and a water guardian with what looks like tentacles for hair jumps out of the water. They appear to be holding a gun of some kind, but it doesn't look designed to shoot bullets.

"You two alright? We felt a disturbance in the Earth coming from this location." One of the Earth guardians says.

 

"Faces are easier to remember."

 

Fable shrugs, glancing at Katie.
“Yeah, I think so. I didn’t knock the planet too hard, did I?”

Their face wasn’t visible, Sgavrinn having kept a low gaze.

Can you try letting me look? I can’t see anything right now.

 

"You were behind the disturbance?" One of the other Earth guardians asks accusingly.

"Hey Katie." The water guardian with strange hair says, smiling.

"Hey!" Katie says cheerily in response.


Shadow Stephanie twists the dagger-claw she was given into the skull of a defeated champion, waiting for something to happen.

 

Fable nods.
“If it was too much, I’ll tap the ground next time.”


The figure uncloaks in front of her, claws bloodied.
“Four days to spare... don’t waste my time.”

 

"Wait, um, she wanted to fight you!" Katie says hastily.

"What?" The first Earth guardian says, raising an eyebrow.

"As in, boxing! A friendly match." Katie clarifies.


Shadow Stephanie gestures to three other incapacitated champions. She looks more demonic than she did before, eyes completely red and a few spikes coming from her shoulders; her hands sharp claws instead of fingers. The figure feels much weaker than before, something about the area taking away all of his strength and power. Shadow Stephanie silently turns and walks back into a colosseum, the sound of cheering crowds easily audible.

Looking around, the area seems particularly hellish.

 

“I’m an ancient living weapon. Gauntlets, specifically. Looking for someone strong enough to not just keel over if I touch them.” Fable says, shrugging. “Apparently earth guardians are candidates for that.”


The figure doesn’t feel.

It looks over each ‘champion.’

 

"We are naturally quite strong. Come, we can take you back to our town, perhaps you'll find who you're looking for." The Earth guardian says.

"Is everything covered here?" The water guardian asks.

Katie nods, and the water guardian dives into the trail of water. Strangely, the water doesn't look that deep, but the water guardian is almost invisible in it.


The champions appear to be extremely strong, suffering wounds in many places on their body. Some of them look less human than others, one of them half the size of a building; the large dent in their skull explaining why they're not moving.

An incubus watches the figure from a short distance away, taking a heavy drag on a cigarette and puffing out a large cloud of smoke.

 

Fable nods.
“Well, I’ll find more there than in the lifeless waste I just followed Katie out of.” She shrugs.


The larger and one of the smaller champions are cut to dust, the other held up to be bled out over the figure.

After it finishes, it turns to the incubus.
“Tell her she has five to go. Or don’t.”

 

A pair of what looks like flat-topped spinning tops drill out from the Earth. Gears seem to turn around inside them, and the Earth Guardians motion for Fable and Katie to step on, which Katie does.


The incubus just shrugs, taking another drag on his cigarette.

 

Fable follows suit, wiping dirt off one of her knuckles.


The figure vanishes.

 

"Uh, sure. I don't know how that would work."

 

Boulders form around the trio of Earth guardians again and they roll off toward the mountains. The spinning tops follow them quickly, though the part Fable stands on doesn't appear to move at all, keeping her still. Katie is kept beside her as they follow the boulders.


A while later, the figure is summoned again with two more champions, or rather, a champion formed of two people; a stringy visceral mess between their join. Shadow Stephanie, now looking even more demonic, just walks back into the colosseum.

 

The giant drops the stone club, which vanishes into the air, then follows the draconians as he scratches Ted.

 

Ted still seems adverse to the situation, but squirms a bit less as you scratch him.

Fable watches the view go by as she stands, otherwise unmoving.


Once again, the figure looks them over. Afterwards, they look for the incubus.

I don’t know either, but you’re the one dreaming. Just try... something, there’s so much crazy stuff here.

 

Fable is taken through a field, and then through a forest as she's transported toward the mountains. She's swerved through the trees with Katie, before hitting the incline up to the mountain.


The incubus is missing, though a few people can be seen further away heading toward the colosseum.

 

She glances back over at Katie.


They then check the strength of the champion, seeming a bit annoyed.

 

Katie seems to have formed ice around her feet and the spinning top, looking a little nervous.


The champion appears to be more powerful than all the previous ones, most likely due to the fact there's two in one.
