"Huh. Perhaps it's already been activated. If it's linked to the gate, then perhaps... Anyway..."

Can I try to misuse it to trigger the speaker?

 

He's fumbling with some papers.

"Uhh, Freddy. Freddy Riley!"

He quickly reaches out to shake your hand, dropping some papers in the process

You purposely fumble with the machine, and a loud horn sound can be heard echoing throughout the floor

 

I use my staff to slowly crouch down and pick them up, knowing exactly where this is going if I bend forward.

 

"Good to know."

 

"We disabled this particular gate already."

 

"Oh, uh, thank you!"

 

"No. I'm just curious as to why they are here."

 

"I wonder if this is all a game to the murderer... He chooses some people who are unconscious, sets up the machines, attacks, and they have to escape with the machines... And if they fail at using the machines, the alarm sounds, signaling him to kill them..."

 

"Oh, it's no problem. I figure I ought to stretch my legs a bit more often anyways."
I collect the papers and stand back up, offering them to Freddy.
"It's nice to meet you, mister Riley."

 

"Nice to meet you too, mr...?"

 

"Cooker. Mauge Cooker."
I reach out an outstretched hand for him to shake.

 

He shakes it.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Cooker. I've heard the others talking about the interrogations. I hope I can be of more use than they were."

 

"Well, care to tell me about your experience?"
I look for a place to sit.

 

"Then I guess it's safe to assume they're linked."

I look at the symbol.

History check: 17 + 5 = 22

I'm waiting for that NAT 1...

 

"It can't be just one machine being linked to one gate. If I was a killer, I wouldn't place the solution right next to the exit."

 

"I was told there were about 6 machines. It's likely they're all linked."

 

You don't know anything about the symbol, but you don't like looking at it

Lawyer: "Well, I didn't know about the first attack at the time. But I heard about the fire and went to the Arms Factory, when I got knocked by a blow to the head. I managed to stay awake long enough to hide in a locker, then went unconscious. I woke up, and found the others. I led them out, being the only one who actually knew the place."

 

"Plausible... and might provide an explanation for some of these... elaborate means of execution."

"I should let you know that I have seen the... thing that committed at least some of the murders. Seen through reading memories, anyway. The figure was obscured, but it was humanoid, though too large to be human. It was immensely strong, I saw it kill someone with a single blow from its club, which seemed to be some sort of... well, some kind of large fish. I know, I know, I'm just saying what I saw."

 

"How did you know the Arms Factory? And, who of the survivors were you with?"

 

I quickly scribble everything you said you saw in my notebook.

"At this point, nothing surprises me... This could prove useful. Good work."
