Actually- can I tell if one of them is an elf/not an elf?

 

The shady figure wears a hood, so it's hard to see any elven features if there were any.

The other person.. Make a perception check.

The other figure seems to be an elder male human.
Due to the high roll, you can see that the man seems very uncomfortable. Scared even.

 

Do I recognize him from anywhere?

 

No, just an elder man. Probably just a citizen.

About a minute passes.
Another minute.

Eventually, you see the man reach out into his pocket and takes out a small pouch.
His arms shaking, and he hands it to the shady figure, who quickly takes it.
The figure throws the elder man to the ground and runs off into the alleyway.

 

Which way does he run?

 

Into the alleyway, so away from you.
