D&d --- Identity

Nightflower: "Ah, of course. Let me get right to it.

You will quickly find that the facts and numbers involved in the case are oddly suspicious, but that's your job, not mine. Each of these 11 individuals behind me were all victims of an attack. They each woke up in their respective location, and were forced to escape before they were hunted down by our murderer. Others were also with them, but they did not survive...

Now, the numbers. There were 5 attacks, in 4 different locations. The Arms Factory, The Red Church, The Sacred Heart Hospital, and most recently right here in Oletus Mansion. Each of the events had exactly 3 survivors. Some of the individuals here were present for 2 different attacks, some just for 1.

I don't know what this means, and I won't tell you how to do your jobs. I will offer any assistance that I can."

 

"These attacks, all being these... escape scenarios, yes?"

 

Nightflower: "From what I have heard so far, yes. Most of the survivors tell the same story, having wandered too close or the location, or simply waking up there, and being hunted. Once they got out of the area, they were no longer hunted."

 

"So some of them will have more information than others, cause they survived two attacks."

 

I scrawl something down in my journal, using my Linguist feat to encode it in cipher.

 

"How many people were attacked in total?"

 

Nightflower: "11 were attacked, across the 5 attacks"

 

"Five attacks at four locales... which one suffered a repeated attack?"

 

"...And yet there are 11 survivors? You said 3 survived per attack."

 

"I'm going to investigate the building a bit."

I start walking towards the stairs, which no one hears cause I have the boots of Elvenkind.

"Some witnessed multiple attacks!" You hear from the other room.

 

"But, our 'murderer' here, wouldn't he have to kill someone to be a murderer?"

 

I'm upstairs now, so I can't hear you anymore.

 

Nightflower: "The first two attacks both occured at the burned down Arms Factory"

Nightflower: "Yes, some of the same individuals were in multiple attacks"

Well, it's not like you are not right in front of people.

Nightflower: "Be careful. The latest attack happened up there."

"Interesting... why was the scene not secured, after the first attack?"

 

But she said that 11 people were attacked, across the 5 attacks. That means nobody died.

 

I walk upstairs, take out my tinkerbox and listen for sounds from upstairs.
Perception: 16 +8 =24

11 survived, which are now present in the room.
Each attack had 3 survivors. Some survivors witnessed multiple attacks.

 

"It was not until the second attack we realized things had been happening there. After the third or fourth attack that we started to understand that this was not an isolated incident. After the last attack here in the mansion, inside of the city, we said something had to be done."

You hear some faint ticking, and water dripping, but not much else

 

"Have you happened to, ah, talked to the survivors yet?"

 

"I'll let that be for now."

I go back down towards the group.
"Nothing upstairs. Haven't checked the rooms though."
