D&d --- Identity

"Donnell. Dr. Aidan Donnell. I'd shake your hand, but the weather makes that slightly difficult."

 

"What, not a fan of the rain?"
I chuckle to myself.

 

"Well, frankly, no. I'd rather not spend the whole evening in a damp coat."

 

"Nah, slippery hands."
He chuckles.

 

"Sherlock": "Just not a big fan of being wet, is all."

 

I shrug, smiling.
"Your loss."

 

"Let's just go inside, shall we?"

 

"Agreed."

 

I try opening up the door.

 

The door opens to a great hall. Doors on either side of the hall connect to other rooms, and a great hearth burns in the back, igniting the whole room with a warm comforting glow.

Waiting for your entrance are two distinct figures. One is a tall thin lady, with taloned feet and black feathers. Next to the aaracockra is a halfling with pale skin and red hair. An assortment of other people are also in the room, but your attention is more focused on the two up front.

 

I also go inside.

"Fancy. Very fancy."
He immediatly starts looking around the room.

Perception: 14 +4 +4 =22

 

I step inside.

"Huh. Quite the fancy place."

 

As you enter, the two figures approach you.


Lady: "You got my letter. I am Miss Nightflower, although..." she lifts her wings to show them "my friends have gotten in the habit of calling me Nightingale"

(totally not a cover up for me getting the name wrong in the letter).

Miss Nightflower: "And this is my butler. We call him Peppermint."

 

I do a perception check, mostly looking at the other people in the room, but also at the room in general.

14 + 8 = 22

 

"Peppermint?"
He chuckles.

"Why Peppermint?"

 

It's a grand room, with 11 other figures around. Supposedly the 11 survivors. Although you can't figure out exactly what it is, there's a... distinction... between each of them.

You also notice in one of the side rooms, stairs lead up to a higher floor. That floor is unlit.

Peppermint: "Pale skin, red hair, halfling. I don't know. It's a bit of a joke I guess. I don't mind." His voice is slightly high pitched.

 

"Hahaha! I love it."

 

"Pleasure to make your acquaintance. My name... Well, I don't like it for reasons I won't divulge, so my friends decided to start calling me 'Sherlock'... Probably because I'm a detective and my last name is Holmes."

 

"It's nice to meet you, Miss Nightflower."
I enter, my chain and cage rattling.
"And you, ah, Peppermint."

 

I immediately start sketching their likenesses in my journal (which I already had out) for possible Scrying later.

"Good evening... pardon me for this (in reference to my sketching), but my standard procedure is to capture the likeness in ink of all those who might be relevant to a case."
