I was waiting for @Paradoxical to be ready before I give the formal intro.

 

I'm somewhat close to being done. Just need to write up some backstory, which I almost have figured out.

 

Oof. I need to do that aswell, but I can start without one. It's only a short campaign anyways.

 

The five(?) of you each got the above letter. Something foul is afoot in Oletus city, and only you can stop it.

Our story begins one very dark and stormy night. After driving through the rain of the city, and for some of you the surrounding forests if you come from another town, you finally come to the old Oletus Mansion, sitting right on the edge of the city.

The old building looks neglected and no doubt the rain is easily pouring through the holes in the structure. Lights come out of the windows of the first floor of the house, the other floors dark as the surrounding hills and forests. The front door is made of dark pine wood with brass handles. All five(?) of you stand there, in the pouring rain, ready to enter.

 

An old Merman stands, dressed in jeans and a polo shirt, and wearing a loosely-fit tie. He's got a strange staff that he appears to be using as a cane, which is connected to a chain that he's using like a sash. Atop the staff lies a silver cage.
He sticks his other hand out a bit, clearly enjoying the rain.

 

A human figure stands there, wearing a trenchcoat and a rather formal shirt and pants. He also wears a deerstalker cap (that hat a certain detective is known for). He has a revolver on his side. He has brown hair and green eyes, along with quite light skin.

He doesn't seem too content with being in the rain, even with the umbrella.

 

A tall gentleman, apparently an elf, is staring at the building. He wears a brown coat with a white blouse underneath, some standard trousers and some green pointy shoes. He doesn't seem to have much on him, except for a briefcase.

"The name is Beiro Memoria. It seems like we'll be colleagues for this case, doesn't it?"

 

A man who looks to be in about his thirties stands under an umbrella, studying the mansion. He wears a long winter coat to shield him from the cold and rain, under which you can see a rumpled white dress shirt and and a silver necktie, as well as some kind of slender golden medallion or pin. Simple dress shoes and corduroy pants complete the look. You can't make out too much facial detail in the darkness, but he appears to be clean-shaven, and his dark brownish hair would be neatly combed if not for the rain.

He makes a somewhat frustrated attempt to support his umbrella in the crook of his arm so he can take a small journal and ink pen from his pockets, and begin sketching the front of the mansion.

 

???: "Pleasure. I'm not happy with the name my parents gave me, so my friends simply call me Sherlock, for a variety of reasons."

 

"Yes, it, ah, does appear that way."
I trot up closer to the door, using the staff to prop myself up.
