As you're glaring at the streets, you see people walk around.
Some might be a bit drunk, judging from their way of walking, but most of the folk you see seems rather normal.

But.. after looking around for a minute or two, you see some shady figure in the alleyway behind the Inn.
You can't make out what he's doing, but he looks armed.

Just wondering, how far is one of the hexes on a map?

 

I'll say... 10 feet per hex.

 

We usually say 5 feet per hex so that's what you should usually keep in mind on a battlemap. But I'm not sure what to do in cities.

 

I use 10 per hex. Maybe bigger.
It's kinda difficult for cities. I usually just say how far someone would be.

 

In that case- how far away does he seem to be? And how far is the drop from the window. Is the window even big enough for me to go through?

 

You're about 10 feet up. The shady figure is about 60 feet across.
You could try opening the window.

Can I hear/see them more clearly?

Looking outside, you can see the figure. Due to the darkness and the bit of moonlight that shines through, it's still hard to see any details.

It's a decent sized window. You would be able to get through it if you open it wide enough.

 

Open it wider so that I can jump out if I wanted to.

 

It's now open. You can climb out if you wanted to.
