You're standing in the Dwarven museum. It's intact, the statues stand tall and glorious, and the doors are open, showing bustling streets outside, not with Dwarves, but with Doguns. Looking back at the statues, you see that they've changed. They now depict Doguns as well, and Dogun banners hang everywhere. The destroyed wing is repaired, the lava running through a dedicated channel with the building bridging over it. The streets outside suddenly descend into panic, and the roar of a dragon is heard above. Doguns flee in all directions, hiding in the repaired Dwarven structures of the city of New Garah. The orange and red stained glass dome above shattered and Ozoth descends, delicately tucking in her wings to make space. You narrowly dodge a falling shard as she lands on top of the enormous Dogun statue, which topples under her weight and smashes on the ground. She's wearing a bracelet on her wrist made of gold artefacts melted together, in the centre of which is set an enormous red and orange gem with a startling resemblance to an eye. You notice the gold Dwarven statue you were going to take melted on as well.
"You have done well, Villager.", she roars, the sound shattering some of the windows behind you.
"Retrieving the Eye of Garahah cannot have been easy. Yet, I see you have lately neglected your duties. I still wish for treasure - the gold from the fall of Thanos will only last me so long."
"I've retrieved every treasure in the Province, as far as I know", you whimper.
"Then you have outlived your usefulness.", she says. You try to run as she takes a deep breath and hits you with her fire. You watch in horror as your skin and them your flesh burns off. You see a glimpse of your own charred skeleton before everything goes dark.

 

i mean i g but i didnt think itd be such a sudden, decisive and overwhelming victory lmao (or is that pretty much what the lore says lol idrk too much about molten heights and stuff lmao)

 

You drift into a dream...

You're in the servants' corridor in the Royal Palace, and everything seems to be deserted. Every other door leads to a room with a smashed window, but you can't see anything beyond them. As you run farther, you hear the voice of Hels softly singing from all the other doors at once.

O was it even for the best?
While Love herself beside me rests,
I give much thought to what would be,
If she had never needed me.

If I could never be by her side,
If Love herself behind me would hide,
If I gave her nothing, nothing she gives,

He begins the chorus, much louder:

Before he can start the next verse, you see a copy of yourself running up to you.
"I'm sorry, I tried to save him... but... I managed to save Doushoins, but in the process... he, was..."
She bursts into tears and you close your eyes, looking for any way to escape, and your own voice stops.

It's a dream, it's not necessarily what's going to happen - in fact there are dwarves alive in the game that remember the end of the war. It's what you're afraid will happen, at least. I will say that it remains to be seen whether the war will even start during Chunchunmaru's lifetime - it depends on if anyone here can prevent it. (incidentally, H0Y's dream shows a Dogun victory scenario)

You approach the nearest guard. He's a strange creature made out of magma, presumably a Dogun.
"What are you, what are you doing here and what do you want?", he snaps at you.

 

”Me gert! From gylia! Finding scrolls for ally. Heard many scrolls here.”

 

"You what? Who's your ally, where the fuck did you here that, and can you speak in full sentences?"
(reminder, you're actually here to find the scroll thief's accomplices, not to get the scrolls themselves)

 

(Reminder: they probably wouldn’t let me in if I were honest. Gerts aren’t that stupid. They can read, write, organize, ect. They can 100% decive)
”GERT! G E R T! From around gylia! Ally is from Ahms, not beta or alpha, told scrolls in lava mountain cities.”

 

"Well, we aren't allowing guests at the moment. Security and all. And even if we were, we're not interested in helping Villagers. Their stupid system put a twelve-year-old in charge just because he was the son of the stupid Duke, it's not our fault Ahms has gone to shit. So fuck off before I make you."

I leave, but stop behind a rock or something where they can’t see me

 

He laughs as you leave and calls after you,
"Oh that's brilliant. His whole family's dead, aren't they? Who's the fucking duke now? Hey - Gert - don't try anything!"
You hide behind a convenient boulder. The guard looks back over, shrugs, and resumes his patrol. The guards seem to be very thorough - there's no way you could get into the town without being seen. You hear snippets of their conversation as they pass- something about a rally happening tomorrow, somebody called Torl, a dragon named Ozoth, an impending war with the Dwarves and two heroes who destroyed Rodoroc Prison staying at the town's Inn - the accomplices. It doesn't look like there's any way in, at least until the morning.
