Bantira quickly brings the conversation round to local rumours in Grinefez, and the mayor loses interest and leaves. She has some fascinating insights - presumably she's read the minds of everyone involved. You finish your steak, and the innkeeper comes over to you. "Will you two want separate rooms?", he asks. Bantira looks uncomfortable and defers to you.

Another dwarf runs out of the bar in leather armour and wielding a battle axe. She immediately dispatches one of the Doguns, and hands the pike to one of the more competent dwarves. You rush to the Dogun and land a blow to his side, causing him to reel in pain. He holds up his hands in surrender. The Dogun you disarmed seems to have run into an alleyway, away from the fight.

The hard wooden floor is uncomfortable and Esmé's gentle breathing from the bed is a constant irritation, but you manage to fall asleep.
