Item Buyer: Top Tier Scammer?!?!; Bannable?

If you think about it, every item you sell to the item buyer is wayyyyyyyyyyy below market price. According to the rule book,
" 7. Do not scam players.

isn't this EXACTLY what the item buyer does? Should the item buyer be banned?

This isn't really scamming though, it's just ripping you off. Those are two very different things

A scam is when you agree to something, but don't follow up on your promise, but ripping someone off is when you agree to something for a really high price, and the other person agrees because they don't know how much it's worth

Either way the rules count this as scamming, therefore the Item Buyer must be banned and/or forced to pay everyone their rightful amounts of emeralds.

Personally I've always thought selling overpriced items shouldn't be against the rules. I think it teaches a good life lesson by making the buyer do the proper research about what they're buying in order to make sure they're paying the fair amount. Same with people selling underpriced items.

 

True enough but it's quite unfair to a new player who is new to the game and has no one to mentor them. This is just a video game where you're supposed to have fun

 

Market prices are decided by the players, the majority, but it is something very subjective so there is no saying whether market price represents the items' true worth, despite the horrendously low price the Item Buyers offer.
Ah, and if Item Buyers are to be banned, you should probably be bankrupt rerolling due to the lack of players buying badly identified items with a good price. And you have about 90LE before that happens, good luck.

 

Still, when someone is scammed out of stacks of LE, that is quite an unfortunate way to learn a lesson. And even worse is when people manage to force newer players to hand over all their emeralds for an ‘amazing’ weapon, when they don’t know anything about the game yet. Making it against the rules makes the person learn the lesson if they ever get scammed, all while not losing all their money since according to the rules the scammer must pay it back.

the market price is made up.

but there were cases of a seller selling for way over the normal price and when the buyer would doubt the price the sellers mates will happen to talk in the area and make the deal seem like a great find
