[psa] Wynn Enhanced Not Safe

It is because previously an argument breaks out between him and the staff team where he tried to blackmail the staffs into doing what he says by saying he will launch cyber attacks to wynncraft using the information he gathered from the player that used Enhanced. The staff team does not take empty threats especially ThaUnknowns specified in how he would do the attacks and experienced coders knew he can well not be bluffing. Therefore the staff team banned him from multiple platforms in order to protect the server and it’s player’s safety.

 

That's really fair.

Just uninstalled Enhanced.

Unless you were making a joke about ddosing, I don't see how this could be cut out of context to a point where that isn't relevant.

Only people that liked you were ones that either didn't know you or wanted to suck up to you due to your pack.
You were single-handendly one of the most aggressive, toxic and impolite people on the forums, and I am taking shoutbox into account.
I have no idea if that's your true personality or if just fame hit you in the head, but I hope you got a grip, cause the way you behaved, especially when things didn't go your way, is inexcusable and unacceptable.

Please refer to the mods if you wish to present evidences to defend yourself better, I’m not here to pick fights with anyone. I’m just here to offer explanations, just like you. People can critically evaluate what they see and decide which side to trust themselves.

 

They just advertise that "no mods required" because a lot of people are too lazy to download a modpack/don't have the connection for that.

 

But why are you doing that ? you steal players informations and want to launh a cyber attack, it is because the community was no longer taking care of ""your"" (99% coded by kirdow) modpack and that because a mod (wynn expansion) is better and easier to use ?

 

List of problems I'm seeing in the mod:
1. The mod restricts you to the latest version, which I do not think is good practice, as the mod does not have any dependencies.
2. The way that the mod checks for Twitch is by checking if the Minecraft instance is installed in a default folder. Which is also bad, as Twitch lets you change your directory name. Also, MultiMC is a thing.
3. The mod sends your UUID and only your UUID to http://kirdow.com/WynncraftEnhanced/playerlist.php . I do not know what this is, it may not be malicious, might just be checking if the player has a Minecraft account, but why not use Minecraft's official checker?
4. Overrides some stuff without calling super.
5. Overrides resourcepacks.
6. Why does the mod have a ServerProxy?

And then you said you weren't sure he was bluffing.
You honestly think that someone will make a minecraft ddos botnet?

It's been a year and nothing has happened. Last update was also like, a year ago. If they were going to dick everyone over they have 150k downloads and had access to info for a year now, I doubt they are going to do anything. Sure be safe to remove you from the possible list, but you literally said it's an empty threat.

I also think the proxy was part of the ban list or whatever where certain people weren't allowed to use the mod. It probably just checks your ID or IGN or something, so I doubt they can even steal accounts. It's 99% sure just collecting IGNS for the banlist.

For everyone saying I trust the Wynn staff more than Unknown, sure go ahead. The fact of the matter is the Wynn staff will ALWAYS be VERY VERY suspicious and safe, they don't want to risk ANYTHING. The mod is probably not going to steal your account or do malicious stuff, but there is the "probability" Which the wynn staff HAS to you know.. take action against. I don't doubt Unknown or Kirdow when they say they haven't built in malicious things and disguised teh mod as some malicious info-stealer.

 

The fact is whether it’s an “empty threat” or a “bluff” does not matter. Do I really think he will launch a botnet attack does not matter. Would you go to an airport and yell you have a bomb? Words carry weights. It doesn’t matter who you are what you did or whether you have a bomb, the fact is you yelled it. The same applies here.

For a server to function properly it’s only natural for the devs to remove any potential of threats. This is what makes people safe. Statistics show that the increase in airport security doesn’t really prevent terrorist attacks, but it makes people feel safe. Security does not take IFs, security does not take POTENTIALLY. To me, this

is the only natural thing for a million player server to do.

Note that I do not take any of ThaUnknowns_'s personality or past actions into account in my argument, there is no need to since we're talking about this objectively. But people can make their own decision from the information presented. Further argument into this issue is just gonna devolve into flame war so I suggest you not do that.

The staffs are not forcibly removing anything from you, the staffs are not banning you because you have the client. But this serves as a warning to your own personal security, and it is up to you to decide what you want to do.

When you are a part of the CT/staff, you don't get to ignore threats of that magnitude. Unknown made a serious threat and staff responded. Ignoring it would be irresponsible. Use it, don't use, I couldn't care less, but stop portraying staff as someone who is trying to ruin Uknown's reputation. He did that himself with his behaviour and fault falls on him.

 

So if we're going by your comparison to airport security, Wynncraft isn't making people safe, they just make them FEEL safe?

I think you misread my sentence, I said :

We are not sure wether or not it is safe, but we have suspicions, so of course we are going to tell everyone "watch out, this mod may be trying to steal informations from you."
Should we rather not say anything until all the accounts get hacked? Why not warn about it, tell everyone "Hey, it may be dangerous, change your password, it won't cost anything and you will be safe."

I know you won't like that but you seem a bit biaised, of course we don't take security lightly, if 150k players are in potential problems, we are going to warn them. We are not going to ban them if they use the mod, we are not going to ban them if they don't change password, we are just warning them about that threat.

What do you think we are doing? Taking a random number generator on internet and looking at who will be our next target?
