“In Ihra’s name, I promise.” He nods.

 

"Go on, then."
The giant starts trudging back to the spiral.

 

She seems displeased, but nods.


Alice nods.
“I’ll keep the files to myself. I cannot remove the knowledge from the shadow king.”

The two men head that was as well.
“Moving on, getting caught is the key. There’s more people closer to the spires, and fewer the further you get.” Aspen says.

 

"Would ya like to tell me more?"

 

“If you beeline, the higher ups’ll be suspicious.”

 

"Mmhm."
The giant nods.

 

The guards at the throne room doors open them for Gaia. Shadow Stephanie sits on her throne in her larger form within, dealing with a stack of paperwork; a smaller stack on the throne beside her.


"They know war better than we do. I trust he will make the correct decision." Gail says, putting her ice cream back in her mouth, the frozen orange juice beginning to melt.

 

“Lady Stephanie?” Gaia calls.


“That reminds me... have you met a young girl named Ihra?”

“...So no, I can’t really say much more.”

 

"Alright. Thanks for the help."

 

“Good luck.” He nods, the two running off ahead of you.

 

The giant smiles, checking the walls for color.

 

Shadow Stephanie looks up from her paperwork, her large red eyes standing out ominously in the darkness.

"Miss Gaia, I wasn't expecting you." Shadow Stephanie says, surprised.


Gail shakes her head.

 

They’re no longer completely dark, some of the thinner parts a dull red.

“I wanted to thank you for you and your people’s help with affairs that have no right to involve you.”


“She’s really nice, if not a bit upfront... she’s been adding a touch of compassion to the king’s actions lately. Or, at least, helping with morality... I might try to bring her here for a meet and greet someday.”

 

"Everyone else is still on this floor, yeah?"
The giant asks the dryad.

 

"Which affairs?" Shadow Stephanie asks.


"I'd like that." Gail says, smiling.

 

“The war, the hospitality, everything.”


Alice nods.
“Anyhow, sorry to scratch a scab. But, uh... on the upside, the two captains aren’t leaving their children.”

“Yeah, I’ll round ‘em up if you’re willing to go up the spire alone and take a peek at what’s to come.”

 

"Fair. We'll see how it goes."

 

"Sure, I can do that. By the way, the walls get glowier the closer this whole level is to melting. We're kinda on a time limit."

 

"The war against the Hive Master?" Shadow Stephanie asks, seeming a little confused, albeit still intimidating at her size.


Gail nods, looking out at the horizon.

 

Gaia nods.


Alice glances at the view, before taking a step back.
“Well, I need to finish sorting something out at home. Here, buy yourself something nice.” She says, flipping Gail a diamond coin.

“Good to know. Did he tell you anything else useful?”

Anne nods.
“Well, enough standing around, we shouldn’t wake Siln up with out visit.”
