Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"A few days, ma'am." A young forest guardian says.


Gail glances over, orange ice cream in her mouth which she removes.

"Hey, Alice! How are you finding the summer?" Gail says positively.

 

"Well, not all tied up like that, ya can't."

"Certainly. He did give me some fairly useful information, though. I'll leave it up to you."

 

"We'll check on Siln first and ask him if he maybe knows anything about poisons. We can then go to Rema if we still feel like it."

 

“A-wait, days?”


Alice sighs.
“I’d love to say I’m loving it, but... did you hear the news about the huge battle and the captured pirate captains?”

“No, you’re right about Rema. She’d know, Siln probably won’t.”

“If you fix that, I can...”

“Your call. I don’t have seniority.”

 

"Well, I don't really have anything sharp on me, so..."

"I want to kill this one, but I don't want to kill Aspen... but I don't think Aspen'll keep his mouth shut if I kill his friend."

 

"Yes ma'am." The forest guardian nods.


Gail's expression turns grim, Gail turning away.

"I did. We all did." Gail says, as if mourning.

 

“Oh... oh dear, I thought it was a few hours...”


“Then, two things. One, can I trust you to bring a file to a guardian elder?”

He doesn’t respond, nervous.

“Then we seed ‘em. We let them go, and then once we’re done with the op, they both die.”

 

The giant just stares at him.

"But Aspen's cool. Just this one."

 

"Time can feel as if it moves differently when you're meditating, ma'am." Another forest guardian says, smiling.


"To the royalty," Gail mutters, "They're more powerful."

A letter flickers between Gail's hands.

 

"But.. we decided to pay him a visit. Plus we have cake for him."

 

“I suppose it has been a few trillion years since I last meditates...” Gaia mumbles.


Alice nods.
“Forgive me, because the second thing is... I tracked down the two captains, and I called in reinforcement from home. The battle was won, and better yet, the two captains are alive and recovering. With help from the shadow king, they’re free.” She says, handing a large file to Gail.

“So, seed this one and let them go.”

“I mean, we say hi to Siln and give him his pie, then we go spend the night with Rema.”

 

"A'ight."
He opens a portal and looks through it, before closing it and opening another, then closing that one, and repeating the process.
"Hmm."

 

The forest guardians resume their normal duty of tending to their garden.


Gail takes the file and reads it.

 

"It sounds like you don't want to go to Siln. Is something wrong?"

 

Gaia heads out, moving towards the throne room.


It’s a marked location on a map, a floor layout of the base, and a list of things that are blocked by the nullmagic.
“It’s the base where the two captains were being held, and several other guardians.”

“No, I just think Rema knows more than him.”

“W-what?”

“I can seed ‘im, you know.”

 

Guards bow to Gaia as she walks, and she feels one following her; invisible to most eyes.


"I can't deliver this." Gail says.

 

"Nothin'."
He closes the portal.

"Yeah, you do it."

 

She turns, a bit uneasy.
“...Yes?”


Alice nods.
“That’s fine. Sorry to try and involve you with my affairs.”

The dryad taps the vines, which drop him onto the ground.
“Alright, now hold up your end.” She grumbles.

 

The giant looks to Aspen.
"You betta keep quiet."

 

"Personal guard, ma'am." The guard - towering over Gaia - says.


"You shouldn't, either," Gail says, "Elders, royalty. Anyone of power shouldn't know about this. You needn't the foresight of a death guardian to realise the wars this will spark."
