Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

She finally stops tensing up entirely, her breathing easing.

“Perhaps she’ll visit sometime. It would be good for her nerves, to slow down a bit. Maybe try sitting on one of these flowers... they provide a fantastic escape.”

 

"They can heal the mind, body and soul. My children often use them to meditate." Gaia explains.

 

Gaia opts not to respond, focusing her energy on healing herself and using the flower to compliment her efforts.


Alice slips her copy of the intel regarding the hidden base she found Katie’s parents in a filing cabinet, locking it before heading to the cave below her house.

 

"We could. I don't know why he would though."

 

Gaia heals rather quickly inside the flower, the flower seeming to magnify her efforts.


A few more crops appear to have sprouted in the cave, including a tomato vine and some (rather small) melons.

 

"Let's go get 'im."
The giant smiles and starts walking off towards where the runner ran.

"I'm coming to you."

 

“Dragons know a lot of stuff. If we don’t know, he might.” Anne shrugs.

That’d be straight down this path.
The man nods, content but nervous.

“Alright, make it quick.”

After a few hours, her wings are at least intact again, and she opens her eyes in the flower.
“Uhm... how do I leave its containment?” She thinks.


Alice leaves a note near the garden, and a gold coin to hold it down.
“If you need anything for the garden, let me know. I should be able to provide funds for a while.”

 

The giant starts walking faster.

"I'm on my way."

 

The man jogs to keep up.

“Got an ETA or no?”

 

"Yeah. Maybe we should ask Rema about those things though. She might be more specialized in those kind of things."

 

"Nope, sorry."

 

“Oh yeah, being a witch and all. Well... sorceress. Witch is usually not a good name.”

“Alright, alright.”

It takes four minutes at a good pace to get to the dryad, Aspen’s friend being hung upside-down by his feet with vines.

 

"Hey."
The giant nods to the dryad, then walks up to the man.
"Fancy seeing you here."

 

Gaia can feel the flower beginning to drain, its petals unfolding.


The note gets a little dusted from the soil, but otherwise remains untouched.

 

"Yeah... witches never lived long in the stories."

 

She waits for it to drain all the way before getting off, smiling.


She leaves it for the fae to read, heading inside.

“And witch hunts being a thing.”

“P-please don’t...”

The dryad just laughs.

 

"Yeah. Rema is still around, so they probably don't see her as a witch, just a bad influence."

 

"Awww, what's wrong, can't run?"

The giant links with the dryad again.
"So, we've got two options here. One, kill them both, which might cause suspicion, or two, let them go and hope Aspen keeps his word to not tell anyone."

 

A couple of forest guardians smile at Gaia as she emerges, though judging by the position of the moon in the dark night sky, Gaia spent more than just a few hours in the flower.


Alice notices Gail working the skyrail as usual, though she seems to be sitting atop her station with an ice cream.

 

Gaia looks up, then sighs.
“How long was I in there...?”


Alice approaches Gail.
“Excuse me, Gail?”

“Come on, I can help you out of here...”

“Have you ever learned to not trust your enemy?” She responds.

“Fair... we could spend the night with her.”
