Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Currently, you are fucking it up."
He says half-jokingly.

 

She follows suit, still trailing you.


The debris rolls off the shields with ease, another artillery barrage fired off.

“Well, welcome to the Crystal Fleet. I only took eleven ships because the shoreline didn’t look like it could fit all of them. Go have some cocoa or something.” She says, pointing the guardian towards the lower decks.

“Tell us what to do, then!” They both say at once, exasperated.

 

"What you were doing. Walking. Going somewhere. Go to that place, do that thing."
He waves his slimy, magma, speared hand, like it's obvious what they should do.

 

They hesitate before continuing their walk.

 

The giant continues to trail them, closer than he was before.

 

I gun down some less-threatening humans as I head toward the exit of the underground base. With the main offensive force dead, everything seems a lot calmer.


The humans begin retreating, waving white flags.

"I...Alright then, I suppose." The forest guardian says, heading toward the lower decks.

 

Alice follows, shooting anything else that moves that looks like it might fight back.


“NO MERCY!” Kiin screams as another barrage fires off.

A draconian in heavy armor trudges up the stairs as the guardian descends, a few other draconians working with machinery while one approaches the guardian directly.
“Welcome to the Crystal Ball, might I get your name?” They ask, bowing slightly.

They continue on, visibly nervous.

 

The giant makes sure to not lighten his footsteps as he walks.

 

Getting to the elevator is easy. I scan the card I stole, and the doors open. I step inside the elevator and wait for Alice.


The remaining human forces are destroyed, guardians cheering.

"Tulia." The forest guardian says, looking a little nervous.

 

"Warm shelter. With the heat of the furnace."

 

She heads in, taking the finger out of her mouth.


Kiin smiles, leaving the upper deck.

“Tulia? What a pretty name. I’m Cris, the head engineer on this vessel. Can I help you with something?”

“Or the oven.”

Their pace picks up a bit, before one breaks into a full run and the other tries to play it cool.

 

"Where's your friend going?"
The giant asks casually, closing the distance between him and the remaining man.

 

I scan the card inside the elevator, glancing at Alice.


Tulia blushes.

"Would it be possible for me to get some hot cocoa?" Tulia asks.

 

She tosses it aside.
“If the card bypasses the blood sensor, then that was pointless. And tasted horrible.”


“Sure, straight down the hall.” She says, pointing down a carpeted hall lined with fogged ice forming the walls. “The double doors on the end lead to the mess hall.”

“Probably leaving me to the metaphorical hungry bear.” He sighs, slowing down.

 

"Wow. Fuckin' asshole."
The giant walks next to the man, toying with the spear in his hand.

 

I roll my eyes, spitting some blood into my hand and putting it into the sensor, before pushing a button.

The elevator doors close, and the elevator begins moving upward. I breathe a sigh of relief as the elevator exits the nullmagic.


"Thank you." Tulia says politely, walking down the carpeted hall.

 

“Might want to exit Aquira. I’m teleporting us straight to the palace med wing.” Alice says, seeming to ease up a bit.


As Tulia walks by, she can overhear bits and pieces of conversations.
“...don’t remember humans living here.”
“This can’t be home. Legends say it fractured.”
“Why the hell were we left in cryosleep then?!”
...
“Three volleys from a partial fleet. Pitiful.”
“They call that a struggle?”
“Don’t forget who they captured. Admiral’d be...”
...
“The hell are we, anyways?”
“Trying to reach out, listen around. Some place called Earth.”
...
“It’s been...”
“Yeah, we’re not seeing him again. He’s long gone.”
...
“Aquira and... who?”
“Sidus. Defeated. Ambush.”
“They’re that blind? Tsch... maybe this’ll teach ‘em.”
“Nav’s never failed. Hopefully their navigator died in the attack, they’ll be better off.”
...
“...still doing well after cryosleep. Feels like waking up after a long night. I’ve yet to look for my family, or explore where we are. This planet is far more terrestrial than home, so clearly I’ll never learn how my children fare...”

...and she’s at the doors.

“He’s got a family to go back to. Can’t blame ‘im.”

 

"I can."
The giant gestures like he's going to flip the runner off with his oozy hand, but then winces before he manages to make the move.
"Ow, fuck."

 

“Thought you’re gonna kill us. Resistance members are... scary, that’s a polite word for it.”

 

"And I thought I was gonna get to kill people today. Haven't even gotten to fire my cannon I set up..."
He stares after the runner.
"Day's not over yet, though."
