Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

He deflects the clumps with the flat of his spear, nimble.

 

"The guardians? No wonder Mortius was so interested," Temporus says, before pausing for a moment, "I see..."

 

The giant flexes his hand a bit as more magma drips off, waiting for the man to do something else.

 

“Look, I know I’m screwing this up. Half the tools in my kit are gone and I don’t know which. If I try to find out, I’m on the sensors. The only thing I could think of if I had no backup was to end their torture session. If you’re here to call me an idiot and give me my promised eternity of torment, go right ahead. Hell, make it two, I know I made it through one already.” She says, annoyed. “I can’t repay any debts. I’ve never been able to repay any debts. I’m only good because criminals are idiots. These aren’t criminals.”

He continues holding his ground, and the dryad opts to snare him with vines from behind which takes him by surprise.

 

"You're the one spending money."
He laughs.

"I'm just not in the mood for cake now."

 

“Well, if you want a cookie or something, let me know.”

 

"Yeah, maybe a chocolate cookie?"

 

“See, I think a chocolate cake is better than a chocolate cookie, but go ahead and pick something. It’s too hard to come to a bakery and not buy something, anyways.”

 

A portal appears beneath the man, leading right into the geyser. The giant's hand reaches through, trying to grab at the man.

 

The man coats himself in magma, seeming to just liquefy and vanish, before emerging behind the dryad, who tries to put Voidfiller between them and the man.

 

"I'm not the one that does torture, it's not my role. I take care of time and watch the timelines, not punish those deserving of punishment," Temporus explains, flicking the bullet away which ends up simply stopping in midair, "However, that isn't to say I don't share some of Mortius' power."

A gold coin with a skull on it appears between Temprous' fingers, and he offers it to Alice. The other side of the coin has a tree on it.

"Take it, or leave it?" Temporus poses.

 

The giant helps them do that, nearly booting the dryad as he steps in front of them, attempting to grab at the man again with a cupped, partially gooey, partially magma hand.

 

“A coin flip to seal my fate?” Alice asks, curious.

The man’s spear cuts through his hand before he uses two other newly-made geysers to throw himself into you.

 

"G'aah!"
The giant yells as the spear sticks through his hand, bringing up his other hand to clap the man in between both.

 

"A look into the ramifications of your choices. Few get the opportunity to see the effects of their actions in such detail." Temporus says.

 

The man’s armor takes the blunt of the blow, and he desperately shoves kunai towards the giant’s torso before the dryad sticks an arrow perfectly through the man’s visor.
“Well, we’ve already blown every order we’re given.”

“As usual, at what cost?”

 

"Shit..."
The giant seems more concerned with his hand, coated in magma, with a corpse stuck to it, and with a spear through it.
"Certainly coulda gone better."

 

"I'm not someone who makes deals, I'm someone who fixes the mistakes of fools meddling with things they don't comprehend," Temporus says, looking annoyed, "The only 'cost' is the knowledge of the future you're headed towards, and ability to change your timeline if you so desire."

 

Alice smiles.
“Finally, someone who’s calling me a fool to my face. Yeah, sure, I’m down for some regret.” She nods.

“Sorry I took so long, it’s hard to line up a shot when you’re thrown at a goddamn stalagmite.”

 

Temporus flips Alice the coin.
